Downloading movies: theft or not?

Out here on the wet coast, mittens get wet far too fast and then they aren't warm, plus if you buy good gloves that keep the wind out, they're definetly warmer than mittens. Windchill is a bitch.

Plus... lurch is correct.

I don't even remember why I used to dislike that dude, but I've discussed some shit with him on The Philosopher lately and I reckon he's a decent bloke now

I liked speed but I couldn't agree with him on his downloading stance.

His opinion was self righteous -- he believed it was his RIGHT to download any or all music for free, and NEVER EVER buy it. He also believed that it was perfectly ok for consumers (such as us) to continue buying CDs in order to keep the music industry alive such that he could continue feeding off it, or, and I quote, "riding our coat tails".

I think that was when you told him to "GET OUT" and so he did. :loco:

I've never downloaded a movie in my life -- wouldn't even know how to be honest!

I like underground metal labels, they are worthy of my support. Hollywood cuntfaggots are not.

Well, not all movies come out of Hollywood. Some of the best movies are independent releases. What about Bollywood? :loco:

Otherwise, yes, I'm less offended if someone downloads a Britney Spears album compared to, say, a Negura Bunget release. Likewise I couldn't give a hoot whether someone downloaded Titanic or The Phantom Menace.

There is definitely revenue being lost though.

It's very simple: if the internet didn't exist, and nobody sold pirate videos/dvds on street corners, then in theory the world would be FORCED to pay to see movies and you'd see a hike in revenue. Right there would be your proof, but of course it's hypothetical (but only to the degree that Newton's first law is also hypothetical). :loco:

You mean, like when before the Internet and VCR's, the movie industry was much larger than today?

...wait a minute

and i'm still right that mittens are awesome.....

But then again, gloves have their time and place as well.

OH THE DIFFICULTY OF THE MONUMENTAL DECISIONS....

Well, when I say "pay to see a movie", I mean: go to the cinema, buy the DVD, rent a copy.

With regards to the internet, I imagine its best use for that industry is mass marketing. The flip side of course is that the internet also allows downloads.

The internet = double egded sword, so I would muster a guess and say it all balances out in the end. [/optimist]

Now, I can deal with either mittens on gloves, but the one accessory that is exceptionally cool is the tag that CONNECTS your glove/mitten to the sleeve of your coat!!

Not only does it serve a practical purpose, but it's metal as fukkk!
