DT is my favorite band, and I have listened to quite a lot of music.

Well, in order to not sound like a troll, I'm just gonna say DT is still my favorite band and has been for years. I don't whine like a sissy when somebody talks negative about them anymore.

But I can see this place hasn't changed much... that doesn't mean I'm not gonna hang around to be the forum pincushion for everyone!

The one thing that stops me from becoming an Opeth fan is that (as someone mentioned DT being) I find a lot of their stuff pretentious.
And I sometimes really enjoy Dream Theater. Wankery isn't always bad. Opeth needs more wankery.

Anyway, as usual I disagree with almost everyone's statement here on DT, and bet anyone who says anything negative either hasn't listened to them or they have ADHD and after they heard one song they said it was too complex to listen to.

Because obviously it is impossible to actually dislike or think negatively of Dream Theater in any way. Good point.

i used to enjoy dt quite a bit until they came up with 6 degrees. scenes was an ok album, but it was also really boring in parts. the albums before scenes are rather enjoyable despite the wankery. labrie is what ruins dt for me. i haven't been able to stand hearing his voice for more than 10 minutes for the last 6 years or so.
they do have some good songs, especially on images and words and awake. if i hear "pull me under", "the mirror" or "lie" anywhere, i hang around to listen to them.

You should check out a side project of theirs called Liquid Tension Experiement...

It has no vocals with Tony Levin in the chapman stick...
