Free Mesa OS 4x12 V30 Impulses for you!

Thank you! Taylor, couldn't try them yet. Did you take impedance into account?

For this first run, we didn't pay a huge amount of attention to it.
If they are popular enough, then we will do another set that have a little more attention to detail.

UPDATED WITH THE SM7B MIC ADDED! MAKE SURE TO GET THE NEW ONES!

Damn, someone else with a white Mesa cab - now I can finally have impulses of a cab that's really like my own.

Can't wait to check these out, thanks dude!

Hahahah awesome.

Mine, however, is SPRAYPAINTED white.

I thought it was a wonderful idea when I was 16!

Thanks a lot dude(s)!!
I'll test these today as soon as I get home!! Looking promising!!

did a quick test with my axe fx, these are really good IR's!
i did not try every single IR but those i tried all sounded good
there was not one single IR that sounded
boomy, harsh or whatever. thanks for this library!

i have one question for you and the other guys who are making cabinet IR's.

do you try to keep them as "RAW" as possible or do you add,
hmm let's say eq to get rid of boomy and ear piercing frequencies!?

what about mic placement?
do you just "roughly throw" the mic in front of the
cab in the usual positions as you would do it on a quick recording
or do you have a guitar hooked up, playing
(or let someone play) and then moving the mic most painstakingly until it sounds the best!?

cheers

Thanks mate!
Glad you found some use for them!
I suppose it helps that I am really picky with guitar and cab tones, being a guitar player.

The ONLY adjustments we made was high passing @70-80 to get rid of the super boomy crap that you don't need. But at the same time, we wanted to leave enough low end so you have room to play with.
Other then that, RAWWWW.

The mic placement was really just kind of a 'everyone else puts them here, let's try it' thing.

Next time though, we will be more selective about the placement.

thanks for the info! :)

yeah, i think a more prepared and exact mic placement will lead to even better results.
looking forward to try these :)

At the same time, it wasn't just a hand-over-eyes placement, we did measure and use a flashlight to find the exact spots, i.e Cap-Edge & Cap.
We just used areas such as the latter to place the mics.

In other words, we decided that we were going to place them in the Cap, Cap Edge, Cone Center, Cone Far.
But we measured exactly where the prime spot would be down to the mm.

But, next time, we will work harder to find the sweet spot of the sweet spot. As well as try different power amps. Like my Diezel's power section which uses 6550's.
It just so happens that I originally brought down the Diezel, but the power tubes died.

haha, yeah i assumed that the mics were placed and not just thrown in front of the cab.
i think that this wil turn out great if you make a few sound tests before capturing the IR's.

any idea how to get this the most efficient way?
i mean one guy sitting in the control room playing guitar,
and the other guy moving the mic until the player screams "SWEEETSPOT" would be kinda painstaking

cheers

Contary to Taylor's response, no EQ'ing was done to any of the IRs, not even the high pass at 80 hz (which we DID do for the God's Cab Beta IRs). After we switched to a pink noise impulse instead of a sine sweep I disabled the high passing, so they are raw.

Here's a picture of the mic placement positions from the manual:

Totally forgot.
