Free Mesa OS 4x12 V30 Impulses for you!

Impedance of speakers or microphones?

I refer to the impedance impulses. Redwirez had released some impedance impulses of speakers to use in serial with their IRs and they add more real sound and a touch of better tone. Just want to know if you take it into account.

Thank you for your work. Couldn't test them yet!

The new RedWirez IRs are switching from a solid state power amp to a tube power amp. The higher impedance of the tube power amp changes the shape of the speaker's frequency response to match it's impedance curve.

So technically, yes, we took that into account because we used a tube power section (6505+ power section w/ JJ 6L6's).

However, RedWirez is taking this one step further and creating different IRs which are variously effected by the speakers own impedance curve (which is super cool).

I think that's right, but I'm no expert on any of this stuff.

Just a quick mix I threw together with Ola's DIs to test these impulses!

Please don't mind the mix, i'm a still a noob.

Man, I honestly would guess that's a real mic'd amp if I was doing a blind test. It just has such a sense of space and moving air, I'm extremely impressed!

But the guitars are a couple DB's too loud on my monitors, bwaha. ;)

What's your signal chain like? What guitar and D.I box?

Thanks A LOT for giving this for free.
Did a quick test with a song I'm working on, and they sound pretty good.

Scratch guitars, quick "mix" (I'm still on the writing stage).
I still have to work on the guitar sound a lot, since I'm testing new gear (HM-2 and JMP1).

Guitars are 2 tracks of Maxon OD808 + JMP-1 on the first 30s, then the OD808 is replaced by a Boss HM-2.
I used the SM57 no ts blended with a room one.

I'll try the new SM7b IRs,
Thanks again !

Thanks Signals ! :headbang:

I still have to experiment with the HM-2 (and JMP-1), because I really like the dirtyness it brings.
I still need to make it sound less weak.

Or maybe quadtrack, with 2 HM2 + 2 OD808 for more clarity and body.

Hey,

The track is not played by me. I used the DI's of Ola Englund (Goddamn Guitar) which can be found here: http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/...mas-gift-you-guize-full-song-ready-mixed.html

I added TSE808 (tubescreamer), LePou Solo+C (Soldano ampsim) and LePou LeCab 2.0 with one of your SM57 Impulses and blended slighty with the CO2 and M3 teh sizzle.

Credit to Ola for the tracks, because his tracks make a Line6 Spider sound tits.

Cheers for the awsome impulses guys, excellent quality for a free library!

Speaking of excellent quality...

Personally i would have gone for an audix i5 and a sennheiser md421 for the new impulses as a c414 and a u87 aren't really among the most used mics for metal guitars (as long as my knowledge goes...)
but i´m just giving my opinion

all free impulses are more than welcome :kickass:

i haven't got the chance to try them because i´m busy as fuck with exams but judging by the responses of this thread
they seem to be very good

Believe it or not I can't rent either an Audix i5 or a md421 from my local music store hahaha. Would've been a hell of a lot cheaper!

The U87 is for rooms, a few feet back from the cab, etc - although I will provide a set of it close mic'd if the dB levels are safe for it.

The c414 will be a close mic'd set like the 57 and sm7b.

I actually also rented a pair of Rode NT5's to redo the Samson C02 stereo room IRs as well.

Yeah, more room impulses please!!

These are the first impulses where I can feel the room on them and not a simple eq capture.

Thanks for the hard work man!

I re-did the room impulses with the Neumann U87 for 1.2. I'll keep the M3 ones in there for variety's sake, but the new U87 room positions have all 5 presence levels and the TS versions (mid range boost). Much more flexible!

It might surprise you to know that the room mics are not even in the same room as the cab. One is at the bottom of an adjacent stair well, one is in the control room.

Our guitarist just dialed in some sick tone by using LeCto, and mix of s-preshigh and one of these impulses... great stuff dude :)
