Should we include demos? EPs? crimsonfloyd made a case for EPs, but I really think it's tenuous. I guess it's more prevalent for black metal? I'm not really sure.

I say we shouldn't include EPs/Demos, UNLESS the band in question only releases EPs (i.e. Paysage D'Hiver).

There is absolutely no reason to exclude EPs/demos. Some bands best releases are demo work - Emperor's Wrath of the Tyrant for example.

That's stuff like Venom, right? I'll allow it because the general consensus is that Venom is black metal. I, however, don't consider the band black metal.

Bathory depends on the album so I don't really get what you mean by that but where would you put Agalloch? Black Metal is the only one we can put them in if we're gonna be able to vote on them.

I was posting more to see if anyone had objections about "is it black metal enough" for the poll. In order now!

Also. If we're not going to include Agalloch/The Mantle, or the Bathory viking metal albums where will they go? I would argue BM is the closest fit, barring some sort of crossover genre poll. Unless we're going to include it in a potential Folk Metal thread... Something we need to decide on since both would likely break into a top 20 depending on which list they should be on, ya know?

Marrow of the Spirit is the best release the band has put out to date, try again.
