Fuck I can't decide. I have to remove some albums and still have to give another listen to Graveland.

EDIT: What about Moonsorrow? I see that their albums are ranked really high on RYM but honestly, I have never got into them and I don't feel the need to do so.

Mate, his list wipes the floor with almost every other list posted. Keep arguing about Agalloch though.

Honestly, his list is all right. I find Far Away From the Sun a little too sullen and brooding for that type of black metal, but the rest of his top six is solid. However, Beherit is absolute garbage, Necromantia is nothing special, and neither is Sarcófago.

That's stuff like Venom, right? I'll allow it because the general consensus is that Venom is black metal. I, however, don't consider the band black metal.

Venom isn't black metal. It belongs on the traditional metal list and it's gonna be fucking stupid if there's a list of 19 black metal albums plus one NWOBHM album on the list just because of the title.

It makes sense, but for totally different reasons. Death is a highly regarded death metal band, but there's little consensus about what their best record is.

Agalloch is a highly regarded threshold band whose albums are aesthetically and conceptually very much aligned with black metal, but contain many non-black metal elements. It's a worthwhile discussion as to whether or not they belong.

Moonsorrow also fairly well regarded and borderline. But if they won't get support here I'll drop them and save it for the folk thread. Also, seeing all the Thousand Swords mentions I gave it another listen, yeah, aside from Barbarism Returns its a better album overall than Carpathian Wolves...
