I think it's pretty obvious that we're rating our top 20-25 Black Metal albums. Read the OP for more details.

I did read the original post. I got that it's a black metal album ranking. But WHY? Is there a point to ranking these albums/genres or is it just for fun? Don't be a smart ass cunt.

I'm doing it for fun/research. I've never seen something like this done in a uniform manner on this board since I registered.
I'm doing the main 4 genres (trad being the next one). I'm gonna redo the death metal thread since that was a dry run and then compile each top 10 together for a top 40. I might do a power metal thread to get a top 50, but I don't know yet.

cook-ta's list was the most agreeable to me, so I'm basically copying his list and adding a few of my own picks.

6. Emperor - In the Nightside Eclipse

Yeah we need some sort of grab bag list for stuff like Opeth, Agalloch, In the Woods, etc.

All this prooves why black metal is the best genre. There's literally 100s of records being listed. So may bands have managed to make records that resonate within this genre.

... lol, yea right. BM is actually actually dead last when compared to thrash, death and trad. Nothing from the top 5 here can compare to the top 5 from the TM and DM lists .. and i'm pretty sure the same can be said for the upcoming heavy metal list.
