I bought a new car (the "I wanna be like Gugs" thread)...

You haven't been around in a while to notice the subtleties of Lurch's pent-up aggression.

haha, yeah. looking for new work and a possible career change will do that.

but seriously haven't you guys noticed how thin most Asian car door feel?

Hows the application to nursing school going?

The Subarus doors are made out of aluminum foil. The 14 year old Volvo doors feel like closing a bank vault. The only other door Ive been more impressed with is the g-parents 19dicketytwo MB 240D. CHUNK!

didn't try any nursing school apps yet.
been getting some new projects for my biz so that helps for now. it was really dry last few months.

I did apply at a MINI dealership for work as a friend works there and got me a foot in. Pure commission job though, which is not appealing to me at all.

If you think a Japanese door is flimsy, slam one of the rear doors on a 4-door Subaru. I used to say the WRX's backdoors were made out of balsawood, although that is an insult to tissue-paper-esque "wood" really.

I got in my Volvo this afternoon to pick my son up from school and got a nice whiff of 87 octane. I exited the vehicle to observe gasoline spraying out of one of the fuel lines, within seconds forming a puddle on my driveway. So much for safety.

Let me reiterate, in all my dealings with cars over the past 20 years, I've never heard of such a thing. If it were in a parking lot and someone haphazardly tossed out a cigarette, the fucking thing would explode, killing whoever happened to be proximal.

Well, it *is* 14 years old but I thought fuel systems, like brake systems were supposed to be fail-safe

Been contemplating trading in the Mazda for a 4WD again. This is what winter does to me.

Instead I bought some new tires for up front. 28k miles and now I've gone through 9 tires. 2 blowouts and now this car is on its 3rd full set of rubber. L O fucking L.

Granted, once I got rid of the stock shite they stopped exploding on me, but the way the stock alignment is set on the 3, it literally chews through the inner sidewall long before the tires would normally die.

:fu: <-- this should be my hood ornament, facing toward the driver

yeah those harsh californian winters are pretty brutal, you do need some AWD in your life.

It's totally been in the low 30s this year! At night. Pretty weird really, it's been ridiculously cold. I mean, you know, comparatively speaking. :tickled:

I saw a video montage the other day about the total overreaction of the local news outlets regarding the "cold" temps

Are they doing STORMWATCH 3000 because it gets nearly freezing in SoCal for a few nights? Is this how one sells toothpaste these days?

Life without TV is awesome. I don't know why more people don't do it.

Dont buy a Volvo. Absolute pieces of shit. Fucking XC90 is going to cost me a fortune....cars for rich people really. Back to appliance Toyotas and Hondas for me.

I took the Mazdaspeed and collection of maudlin of the Well albums to them thar hills this weekend.

My desire to trade the thing in for a Jeep/4WD is substantially minimized.

That was such an enjoyably dangerous ride. Barely anyone out, and only snow at the very top.

Really really really really want to move up there. Of course then I would have to trade the damn thing in.
