I bought a new car (the "I wanna be like Gugs" thread)...

Porsche Cayman, then.
Not a fan.

yeah, you need something with more balls than a "beige" Altima ... you aren't getting younger you know.
I was actually looking at black. I actually think they're pretty unique looking, very nice interior, and decent sized balls with the 3.5 liter.

as Nad once said to dorian; the V6 is for dental assistants, RN's drive a V8
I suspect he made that comment before 6-cylinders had 305 HP.

I'm seriously starting to think about ditching the Mustang idea and going for something a bit more comfortable and roomy, possibly an SUV. Looking at the Nissan Murano and Toyoya Rav4. Anything I should consider in the market segment?

the only ones I like in that segment are the Ford Flex and the Turbo Subaru Forester.

With the exception of the ancient Ford Escape, everything in the small SUV segment is an ace vehicle. You can't go wrong. The top two are, surprise, CR-V and RAV4. Hondas aren't all that comfortable though and Toyotas, while comfortable, are incredibly boring. The larger ones like Murano and Highlander are just as good. Ford has a brand new Explorer coming out that is significantly different in design philosophy than the old version. The Flex that Aurel mentioned is a HUGE vehicle but among the best overall SUV type rides. Subarus are nice too. As a niche vehicle, they have alot of quirks but they are very reliable. What about a Volvo wagon? Ridiculously comfortable. And since you lease, you won't be worrying about repair costs. That's what I'd get if I were you: a V70. You'll want to take the seats out and put them in your living room.

Not a Mini fan. They ride way too rough. Not sure if they're designing their different models any differently than they did the Cooper S, but that thing barely had shocks.

As for the Benz, I'm looking to put very little down and still have a lease payment under $500.

The Countryman allegedly has a very smooth BMW like demeanor ... not in the US until January though. It was made for people that had the very same issue with the cars that you wrote about.

But this SUV segment is a tough selection ... you have your work cutout.
