In booklet for Ghost Reveries, Opeth collectively thanks High On Fire.

How many fucking tuning pegs does he have on his guitar? It looks like he's got 9. What's up with that?

Both bands were on the inaugural Sounds of the Underground tour together a few years back. I remember Mike commenting that he had no idea HoF would be there, and that they were really one of the only bands he cared for.
Reckon they hit it off there.

When I saw High of Fire, at an Opeth show, it was just a total disaster. They really sucked. So I'll be basing myself on my first impression for now.

All the long, we did only hear power chords from guitars, punk rock beats from the drum and retarded solos from the frontman.

check out burning black wings and death is this communion. they're both amazing albums.

I recently started listening to them, since I'll be seeing them at the Opeth show next week. I can see why people don't like them, but I still like their music. It's much more straightforward than Opeth but I enjoy their thick, heavy riffs and the aggressive, doomy atmosphere.
