I think many katatonians are drunks and addicts.....simply because of the depression, escape, and darkness we must be going through to listen to katatonia for "therapy" as Anders would say....not that you must be drunk or high to have those feelings.....I can personally attest to the fact that depression and dark feelings have nothing to do with sobriety.....although many do self medicate with drugs and alcohol.......Ive done it all....every drug I can think of excluding only a few types of pills...Ive done it in every way possible.....and it did momentarily bring light into me....Ive lived on the streets, eaten out of dumpsters.....even cleaned a crackhouse shitter for a 10$ rock......been a begging piece of shit.....and came out the other side a better man for it.......I am not ashamed to talk about it freely....in fact I am speaking at the University of Michigan Hospital this weekend about it....there will be from 100-200 people there Im told...........any questions?

so to say that many of us are drunks and addicts goes without saying.....but also I think addiction in some form or another is the biggest plague on earth.....and it is fucking everyone....regardless of status or race or type of music we listen to....it is fucking everyone....

if anyone here says that they dont know someone who is addicted to something I would venture to call them a liar......but I wont...I suppose its
possible...

here I am again holding hostage a thread.....yet somehow I do feel like I am still introducing myself.....my apologies to anyone who may find this post innapropriate for this thread.....

I do not belive that. If there's someone in the world that are drinking MORE than the Finns, I must have misunderstood, well, mostly evertyhing! Finns = sauna, forest, lakes and vodka. :D

It's true I saw it on tv. It was a program about the Scandinavia and a list was shown depicting how much alcohol was consumed in each country. We ranked first then Finland, then Sweden and last was Norway.

WE DRINK THE MOST!!!!!!!!!!!

I´m only addicted to music, no drugs, no sex, no smoke, no alcohol (only sometimes if I go out but I´m always under control)...

I tend towards darkness more than light too, so Katatonia is also my therapy...I try not to be depressed but it´s a continuos struggle because I always see first the negative side of things... and I had suffered from depression, so I know what it means...
but anyways I try to use sort of black humour to survive ( well I also love to be absurd sometimes..), I kind live out of a sort fragile hapiness followed always by its shadow.
But as long as life alternates with shadows and lights it´s ok...at least it´s better that an everlasting night...

ok, wasnt sure if I was gonna bother writing in this thread but here goes.
My names John, im 22 from Ireland. Currently doing my jazz performance degree. Yep, I said jazz! Listen to loads of different music but the music that I love is generally dark, melancholy and depressive, regardless of genre. Ive been playin guitar for about 11 years but am currently not in a band. Ive been lookin for people to play with but most people round here dont wanna play dark type music...BASTARDS!! Im a quiet person, not much into the pub/club scene as I dont drink. I do smoke though, far too much. Not a huge amount of friends cause Im not much of a socialiser, and the few I do have are big into drinking and listen to Kiss!
Oh..and i have a vomiting phobia!:erk:

Name: Willus
Age: 22
Music: Doom, Death, Classic Metal

Goal: Head to Norway in 2008 when I get off parole to see some real shows. I also plan on fighting as many "chavs" or whatever you call them on the way. I really enjoy fighting, espically people with jewelery who listen to Hip-Hop. Always a good reward to pawn off the stuff you took off them when they were knocked out. United States has no good metal shows, pisses me off. Anyway, that's a bit about me.

Hej, I am Güzide from Turkey, Istanbul but I live in Ankara for University. I study linguistics. I spend most of my time at home listening to music (mostly doom, viking and folk metal) and reading books (mostly fantasy literature). I like to enjoy myself drinking (nearly regularly :) ), besides I like to wander in the city alone.. I am also a lurker in the forum, so there is nothing special with me :D Cheers!

In general, a nun is a female ascetic who chooses to voluntarily leave mainstream society and live her life in prayer and contemplation in a monastery or convent. She is only addicted to music, no drugs, no sex, no smoke, no alcohol (only sometimes under control).

The term "nun" is applicable to Roman Catholics, Eastern Christians, Anglicans, Lutherans, and Buddhists, for example. The male equivalent of a nun is a monk.

 Doesn't sound that bad after all :loco: I should seriously give it a thought.

from http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Nun

Overview
A nun is a woman trying desperately to become a penguin through habit. Nuns, unlike penguins, may fly if starring in a television series or when fired from a Chuck-Nun.

Nun may also refer to the state of having less than some.

Also used in an alternitive saying for not your business: nun-ya.

[edit]What Inspired Nunnery!
The history of the nun is long and boring, and a right godammned pain to write upon. Therefore I shant. I won't. None can make me relate the stifling and turgid story of the first nun, and whence upon the nun did come. No, no no. I shant, I shant, I shant.

[edit]But Seriously
No. Still not going to do it. Can you blame me?

[edit]Consider This a Warning
See how easy I buckle to pressure! Hmmmph! Outrageous!

Oh, yes. Nuns. Dreadful beasts, over seven stone, with sharp teeth and soulless eyes, two meters long. Known to spend long periods of time submerged, give birth to young inside eggs. Can strike without warning. Bloody pests, they are.
