really? that's interesting
we always use a lot of non-verbal expressions, it's so natural as speak or breath. but watching those video i had a lot of fun because we seem a bunch idiots when you do it in everyday's situation it's normal, but seeing them explained in video is really weird and funny!!!

the first slang words are similar to italian
-sto venendo
-(io) vengo...

the right words for semen are : sperma or seme. while the slang word is sborra.

Yeah they're pretty similar, some of them the same. This probably happened because CRns are like the Japanese: Always trying to look foreign and embracing anything from particular cultures. It's more interesting to see that there's a lot of fanaticism towards Italia and Brazil, than say España or Canada. Ahhh these Ticos .

Anyhow, there are some differences. For example, to say that you're hungry in here you will just grab your stomach with one or two hands and say "¡qué hambre! or ¡me muero de hambre! The first can also mean "I am eager to fuck/get laid with somebody" .

HAHAHAHA That one is really awesome, it cracks me up every time as well hahaha.

As for the ¡! ¿? stuff, it's just grammatical stuff, in spanish is correct to do so but many people don't, mainly because of lazyness

Haha indeed, it's more than just grammatical stuff, you're right . And yeah, that dude is CRAZY! hahaha, he has some cool stuff but others kinda cross the line... nevertheless, it makes me laugh hahaha. I'm from Colombia... in my country we have some similars called the "Hetores", they take some movies and dub new voices in it, it's really funny . The difference is that they aren't 500% sexual hahaha. You guys in Costa Rica do something like that or something? :O (and well, same question for everywhere around the globe haha)

lol, in German there are some quite popular (popular on the Internet and among youths) dubs, too. The very first was "Sinnlos im Weltraum" (senseless in space) which was a Star Trek re-dub. Then there was "Lord of the Weed" which is legendary! And another good one is "Harry Potter und ein Stein" (Harry Potter and a Stone) and its sequel "Harry Potter und der geheime Pornokeller" (Harry Potter and the secret porn cellar).

But some people don't like them quite much since they mostly consist of insults.
But you will quite probably encounter quotations from those movies, especially from LotW, every now and then.

this somehow reminded me of a thread i posted a while ago on another board... it was about how different names sound in different languages and often turn out to be very very bad some examples:

- my own (real) name Zina means "the act of extramarital sex and premarital sex" ( wiki ) in Arabic... Also, my ex-husband used to call me "nazi" when we got in a fight, based on the thing that, if you put zina several times in a row like this: zinazinazinazina you get nazi The guy's own name was (is) Ad, which simply means "hell" in Russian

- Faeroese male name Heri sounds quite dirty in Russian. The word "her" is a Russian curse word for "penis"...

- i don't know for sure, but i thought Simen (like in Simen Hestnæs ) is pronounced like the English word semen? if it is, poor guy! what kind of parents call their child like that

- You probably might know R.A. Salvatores books about the drow elf Drizzt? Those books were officially translated into Russian with the altered name Dzirt, because the name Drizzt is too reminiscent of the Russian curse word for diarrhea...

in german "die Katze in dem Kühler" means "the cat in the radiator". sounds like a germanization of the italian phrase "cazzo nel culo" (dick in the ass)

edit: i remember i laughted a lot about the swedish word for sweater which is tröja, because in italian "troia" means bitch/slut

btw speaking about "learning Swedish" actually, i've just read somewhere that it is recommended to watch movies in the foreign language with the same language subtitles if you're trying to learn the language... i'm going to dig up Mio Min Mio and watch it again, since Swedish subs were the only ones i could find anyway (i so love that movie, when i was 10 and saw it for the first time i fell i love with the boy playing Mio ... ohmy now i'm feeling sentimental...)

yes, me and a friend always make jokes of poor Vortex. We go and say stuff like "well, he's not as might as Semen. HAHAHA! " In Norwegian it's pronounced "semen" right? I guess the name is the equivalent of Simon, though . Though I wouldn't be surprised if someone calls his son "semen". i've never studied greek for being honest, but yeah i studied history of arts at school. and greek art is really beautiful, so i rembember that particular about this statue


one of the most amazing statues i've ever seen in my life is the nike of samothrace, which is at louvre museum now, yeah i know it's headless, but still beautiful

the second one i love is the Apollo of Veii, which is an etruscan statue made of terracotta. it's magnetic! can't stop to look at it!
