nu metal isn't metal?...oh so you're one of those people...ha ha

its called nu "metal" for a reason...becuz it is metal...but anyway...

I'm one of those people as well. Other than heaviness, Nu-Metal bears too little similarity to metal to be metal. It's just a heavier form of alternative rock. I don't happen to like most Nu-Metal, but I try to remain objective about it. 90% of the music classified as "Nu-Metal" is not metal at all, unless one considers anything remotely heavy as "metal," which is pretty absurd.

when i talk about the kids n shit i mean all the stupid little nu-metal kids who try to look cool by wearing t-shirts by proper metal bands when they know dick about them, and i fucking know what im talking about, you dont fucking live here. so if you went to a metal concert with loads of bands you loved and then found it was swarmed of little kids and their parents would you mind? yes, i think the answer is a fuck yes

I would not like metal to become popular. I love finding out about new underground bands, and I find it incredibly rewarding when I find an excellent band that no one else knows about. They should work to find good music. One person I know is a complete dick head. I introduced him to Opeth and now he rants and raves about them like he knows the underground metal scene inside out. And Opeth arent far underground. This would be sad if more people did this and un-earthed the under ground. There would be no challenge to find good music, no feeling that you worked for your reward. Argh.

Almost nobody is into extreme metal around my place. Only me and a few others. There are shit loads of kids that worship such shitty one-night-sengsation-nu-metal bands like Papa Roach though  I can't wait till nu-metal dies. All they do is whine constantly about is how they're so angry because their girl friends broke up with them. Most of those nu-metal kids don't know jack shit about heavy metal but they act like they do which is pretty pathetic. I admit I used to be a big nu-metal fan around 3 years ago but at least I never acted like I knew everything about heavy metal.

Some of you are saying that you hate mainstream music and all this but one time Slayer and Pantera's album sales were topping the charts you know... I think there's nothing wrong with a metal band making it big when they worked their asses off for it with touring and everything but the problem is that some bands sellout when they hit mainstream.

Some metal bands in thrash got real popular in the past but styles heavier than it will probably never see the day of becoming mainstream. It'll be a riot if Cannibal Corpse and Entombed get played on MTV all day (That'll be so awesome ) By the way, some hardcore and metalcore bands are making it big recently like Hatebreed.

Well those dudes in Swedish Grammy Awards aren't stupid and give awards to those with the biggest album sales like those in the U.S Grammy Awards, So cheers to them. :)

i like my metal underground. i love the feeling of hearing an album and sharing and talking about it with my metalhead friends. underground metal is almost like a hobby, im always lookin and listnin to new found bands, and get the best pleasure out of it. i get a huge kick out of walking around high school knowing im the only one you'd see with an iced earth or in flames shirt. and just knowing im probably one of the few who listens to them. something about metal being popular just turns me off. but one of my favorite things to do is "SPREAD THE METAL!" im always showing my fellow metalheads all the rockin unknown bands.

its all coz of new bands like nightwish and dragonforce and from other good bands making cool albums like rock in rio and rude awakening

This is one thing i dislike and thought the prejudice wouldn't lie in this board.. But people who think themself superior because they are "metalheads". Just like true "punkers" they belittle people are are trying to get into the crowd. Honestly, if it weren't for one of my friends, i wouldn't know a quarter of the bands i do. Everyone has to start somewhere, not everyone magically knows every single good band. I understand your frustrations of having some little shits thinking themselves cool by listening to music they cannot even comprehend the beauty of but it is part of every single music genre!

In Canada, no one really knows metal. When i let friends listen to it.. they'll listen for like 30 seconds and call me crazy but i don't let it bother me. I like what I like. There are like 8 or 9 people in my grade who likes metal.. and maybe 20 in the school who do. I wouldn't worry bout metal becoming popular because not many people understand what makes it so great but even if it did, are you telling me you would automatically stop listening to your favorite band? (if they didn't sell out).. if you would then it shows you aren't loyal and only go for the image of being underground....

But i disagree with the person who said they would rather a 10 year old listenig to metal rather than tatu... Personally i like tatu (scares me too) but i don't find metal is really acceptable for the innocent mindstate of a child.

What I do find a little annoying is people who know about Cradle of Filth's From the Cradle.... CD onwards and listen to Nu-Metal Otherwise. Mainly because of the way they seem to think they are the most extreme albums ever made. As much as I like these CDs they are not!

I for one wouldn`t complain if Progressive Metal became hip and trendy over the night. It would let the people who have worked hard to become the excellent musicians they are reap the benefits they have deserved all along, as well as turn the kids of today onto some technicality, which is never a bad thing.

i'm a kid (16)..and i dont listen to nu metal...and i am not a fucking suck up annoying little bitch either...ha ha...so dont say kids in general...generalizations suck

thought i should stick up for the kids who actually listen to metal... :p
