I'd also like to mention that literature should not be downplayed either, The Odyssey, Beowulf, Paradise Lost, Faust, The Divine Comedy, etc.

Shakespeare, dude! You forgot about most of what Shakespeare wrote. Some of his plays were shit, but for the most part he was incredible.
