Hey, metal_wrath- you're aware that you can put more than one idea into a single post, right? It is not necessary to create a new post every time you move onto a new topic. It's easy, just watch:

Kittens are cute. I will not move onto another topic, just to drive the point home...

I very much enjoy milkshakes.

kittens rule, and i would love a strawberry milkshake right now

Yeah, funny I was at the mall today and they were blasting of all things J.S. Bach Orchestral Suite no.3 as well as Pachelbel's Canon. It was pretty good, at least I enjoyed it, but nobody else seemed to :zombie:

it doesn't matter to me though, some people are just not interested in such things, but they DO listen to crap such as mainstream pop and rap which is something I don't understand :Puke:

canon in D is the britanny spears of "classical"

I don't judge classical music in that way, there isn't really any poppy or truly mainstream classical. Other than Waltzes and some modern stuff which I have not really gotten into. Canon in D Major is quite good and need not be categorized as such...

Btw, have you heard Pachelbel Suites for Keyboard? Most people have only heard the Canon.

is it a good song? sure. but i played it in 6th grade begining band. nothing really challenging or, in my view, interesting.

So how do you explain it's universal appeal amongst people who have never even heard classical music. I thing you would agree that it is quite effective in it's purpose, although I am sure it was not meant to be the most challenging or interesting and is probably not even the greatest piece written by Pachelbel. It essentially comprises of a recurring melody which is repeated a number of times, with slight variations. It is merely a singular piece of music which, although quite brilliant, does not represent the bulk of Pachelbel's work and it is not warranted to judge the piece on it's own but as part of a larger work, in this case that work being the "Canon and Gigue in D Major"...

its acessable. just like pop music is today. its easy on the ears and doesnt confuse someone who isnt familiar with the genre.

its just like mordern music. why do more people listen to pop than metal? because pop is easier to listen to. its bubble gum music, so to speak

More people listen to pop than metal because people don't like Harsh screaming vocals.

Thats why metal isn't more popular because of the vox.

sure, because screaming vocals are harder to listen to. harder to understand.

i imagine more people listen to cannon in D than stravinsky's rite of spring for the same reasons. its easier o the ears than rite of spring

not really

what about prog/power metal bands like pagan's mind, shadow gallery that have excellent singing??

people listen to pop because it is a very simple, catchy, and straightforward genre that never challenges the listener

it's bubblegum music made for mass consumption
