What about power metal? I wouldn't call power metal vocals harsh.
but the music is far too complex.

Not all PM vocals sound like they're from the 80's.
its acessable. just like pop music is today. its easy on the ears and doesnt confuse someone who isnt familiar with the genre.
its just like mordern music. why do more people listen to pop than metal? because pop is easier to listen to. its bubble gum music, so to speak
~gR~
and the music is so outlandish compared to regular/pop music
LOL I remember the first time I ever heard behemoth, my ears were getting violently assraped
This is true to some extent, and it pisses me off. I hate how many people think that metal is loser's music and hip hop is the music of cool people. I don't care, though, because I'm not a loser, whilst I know several socially awkward geeks that can't get a chick, that like shit like 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg. Stereotypes probably actually hold true less than 50% of the time, whether stereotyping a group with a given musical preference, a race, a class of people, group with a certain hobby or interest, etc.from my experience, most people don't like metal due to the image as well as the intensity and speed of the music
in pop music/culture, image is everything and metal is perceived as music for nerds, losers, misfits, etc...

The chip on your shoulder just eclipsed the sun. Did mainstream hip hop beat up your dad or kick your dog or something?
pop music is the best music
Oh man you are stirring the pot so much and being so provacative I can't believe what I am reading.
