Speaking of vocals, I made plans to go to my buddies house this weekend and record some growls and screams. Not sure if I'm just going to play the cd in the background, or have my guitarist friend just play the riffs of a song for me and record it. Considering my friend doesn't listen to metal I just planned on tellin him to play Master's Apprentices considering it's 2 riffs for 5+ minutes and not worry about the second half. I'm wanting to record something with clean vocals too, so any suggestions would help. I was kinda talked out of doing a Candlemass song .

Once you start to grasp guitar decent you don't need to count or memorize anything. He needs another 4,5 years of heavy practicing. Also if you don't grasp basic chords you're not going to learn period.

BPM doesn't really matter. Just set it at a decent speed and try to play with it. I can't stand it when bands time is off.
