Old school death metal

:kickass:

Wombbath - Internal Caustic Torments is some stuff everyone here should check out.

Killer. I paid around 30 dollars for this on cd and am surprised I found it to begin with. Releases on Thrash records are rare as hell and Sentenced was actually ripped off.

Since there is general talk on euro death metal what do you people think are the best US death metal albums ?

me

Morbid Angel-altars of madness, blessed are the sick
Brutality-screams of anguish, when the sky turns black
Disincarnate-dreams of the carrion kind
Incantation-onward to golgotha
Monstrosity-imperial doom
Death-spiritual healing
Autopsy-severed survival,mental funeral
Immolation-dawn of possession
Resurrection-embalmed existence

I'll agree with Disincarnate.

Arghoslent - Incorrigible Bigotry
Incantation - Onward To Golgotha
Master - On The Seventh Day God Created... Master
Nocturnus - The Key
Ripping Corpse - Dreaming With The Dead
Possessed - Seven Churches

and if this album can keep up the awesome for an extended period of time - Insanity - Death After Death.

My top favorite USDM(first three are gold):
Atheist-Unquestionable Presence
Revenant-Prophecies of a Dying World
Ceremonium-Into the Autumn Shade(doom/death)
Incantation-Onward to Golgotha
Wicked Innocence-Omnipotence
Morbid Angel-Altars of Madness
Death-Human, Symbolic
Mindrot-Dawning(I suppose it qualifies as DM)

The Disincarnate got stale for me fairly quickly, it's an ok album, though
I'll have to check out Insanity and Ripping Corpse. I've heard nothing but good things about the latter.

Somebody else finally mentioned Insanity? They fucking utterly rule. Immensely. Vicious, savage, ORIGINAL Death FUCKING Metal. Definitely one of the top USDM acts.

Incantation > Immolation
It depends. Incantation's early albums are better than Immolation's early albums IMO (though not by much, as early Immolation is great, too). However, latter day Immolation is better than latter day Incantation. Of course, this is just my opinion. Since we are focusing on old school death here, the focus is on the early albums, so I'd agree.

Hmm, I've been listening to ,for the past 20 or so minutes, Demonical - Servants Of The Unlight, which is basically the continuation of Centinex. Really typical Swedish death, but still pretty good (though not quite good enough to be a contender for AOTY or anything.)

I think these are the only death metal cds I need to get left on cd.

Centinex-subconcious lobotomy
Cancer-to the gory end, death shall rise. I did have death shall rise years ago and it got all fucked up.
Convulse-world without god
Monstrosity-imperial doom
Mordicus-dances from left. The reissue should be out soon.

Yeah, I've been eyeing that copy of Slumber. I'm going to let it go down to about like 10 minutes before it ends and if there are not bids yet then I'm going to bid on it - but I don't really want to spend more than 50 dollars on it (especially considering how much I've spent on shit recently.) 200 dollars or some shit like that in the past 3 months, on what I don't know only 100 of it could've been for music haha.

You could track down the reissue for cheaper. One of the guitaristists actually did the remastering so it's not messed up or anything.
