Opeth and religion

If I remember correctly, last time we did this it was around 90% atheist/agnostic.

JC's disciples are catching up.
 
I remember the days when you weren't even allowed to join this forum unless you had burned atleast 3 churches. Or at the very least gave a Christian person a mean look once.

no an expanding universe is not a theory it has been a scientific fact for about a century, and u may say how do you know if they have never seen, been there etc. the universe in infinate as the rate it expands is at such a speed that not even light can travel with it, and it is imposible for and object of mass to travel faster than the speed of light, therefore if there was a spaceship capible of the fastest speed phyicaly posible you could never reach the end of our universe, making it seem infinate... tho it will have an end, as it is expanding like a baloon and is increasing in speed, tho what is the source of the energy behind this is not yet known but it is known as dark energy and it is this that makes up most of the mass that is in our universe and discovering acualy what dark energy is will let us see the universe in a differnt way. some people belive that that force is 'god' and also the cause of the big bag model is unknown and this has also been clamed to be the power of 'god'.

What I'm interested in is whether those who voted 'athiest' believe in Satan. If you do, I'd love to hear your reasoning behind the existance of Satan and the non-existance of God.

Ofcourse atheists don't believe in Satan. Hell, Satanists* don't even believe in Satan. And to be honest I doubt whether most people who are into one of the Judeo-Christian religions do either. I think a lot of people just consider that aspect more a metaphorical thing (but I might be wrong about that).

* LaVey's Church of Satan, there probably are other people/cults who call themselves Satanists who do. But they are just big sillies.

Well technically we believe he/it is a real entity though not a physical presence at least not at this time.
 
I'm baptised catholic but I voted athiest and here is why:

I'm down with JC. Ofcourse, there is no proof that he existed or that he was who we've been told he was. Regardless, I believe he existed & believe in his words. I do hope there is forgiveness for all my sins.

I consider my faith in Christianity to be just that. It's a faith that my mind & heart believes in. I hope that paradise does await us. If it doesn't, oh well. It doesn't really change how I live my life currently. I live a very non-christian lifestyle, but that doesn't mean I don't believe it is the way.

I do hope some day that I'll be re-united with loved ones & great friends that are no longer here.
