I know there has been somewhat of a discussion about this on here but I decided to ask a little more in-depth...I know about Kalmah, Skyfire, Norther, Mors Principium Est, Insomnium, Children of Bodom, Eternal Tears of Sorrow, and a few others but I was wondering if anyone could contribute a few more bands to the list. I am always trying to find new bands, new Finnish ones especially, so any help would be appreciated...

Thanks! I checked them all out and I must say that I liked lords of decadence the best. Sweet harmonies and awesom riffs...anymore bands like this? :headbang:

you gotta check out www.metal-archives.com thats biggest metal site with all the bands you can think of in every genre.

type in "melodic death metal" or "melodic speed/power metal with harsh vocals" and theirs more with their official website and etc.

metal-archives.com deffentally kicks ass. theirs like 1000 melodic death metal bands on their you can listen to and shit. check it out

oh yea and check out Icewind Blast, Celestial Sorrow, Division 19, Mourn In Silence, Shade Empire. i forgot to add them to the list.

FOR MP3'S

Icewind Blast -http://www.icewindblast.ru/
Division 19- http://music.mp3lizard.com/Divisioona/
Celestial Sorrow (really fucking cool (their newer stuff "you can download it" - www.celestialsorrow.tk
Mourn In Silence (really fucking cool)- http://stage.vitaminic.com/main/mourn_in_silence
Shade Empire - http://www.shadeempire.com/
Empyrean Sky (cool but they have singing and growling, and the singing sucks really bad) - http://www.empyreansky.com/

all of these bands are like kalmah and bodom.

he already mentioned norther so i didn't say anything about them.

he didnt mention Throne Of Chaos though, but they suck swampballs ;-)

but he did say insomnium, and i think insomnium are quite boring. if you want just finnish melodic death metal bands then click on the link below....

Finnish Melodic Death Metal Bands

Have you heard new Insomnium? Compared to their first album, this stuff is a little more up-tempo...Very good Melodic death, has the trademark Finnish sound...

i don't think they have guitar solos, and that i think is the best part of a song.. i like alot of bands that don't have solos but with that particular type of metal i prefer guitar solos.. and more up tempo - like you said, but i will have to check out their new cd.

Guitars remind me of Arch Enemy and the vocals are very reminiscent of Alexi from COB...Very cool stuff, I wish the samples were longer

edit: to go even further, the vocalist/guitarist's favorite musician is Alexi and he plays Alexi's guitar...kinda ironic :loco: ...

not the typical melodeath band but does play melodic death metal, not finnish but still I can't praise Amon Amarth too much!

What's a good album for Amon Amarth? I remember checking them out not too long ago and wasn't really into it. what would be their most "melodic death" album?

amon amarth do lick goatnuts ;-) (im just not a fan of viking metal)

omnium gatherum guitars are good, but the vocals fucking spoil it. very plain one dimensional vocals.

you should click on that link with all the finnish melodeath bands ands theirs so many that are like omnium but alot better.

what band are you talking about??

insomnium? - if so that sounds killer and i will deffentally check out their new cd.

this Amon Amarth bashing is blasphemy....
The best AA album is Once Sent From the Golden Hall (in my opinion)

Also, for very harsh melodic metal, try Thine Eyes Bleed www.thineeyesbleed.com
Some people say they have a tad of a metalcore influence, but i dont really hear it. Pretty damn brutal at times too.

Wolftribe: AA rocks and as you said Once Sent From The Golden Halls is their best masteripiece.. but I like all of their stuff! Oh and back to the topic try out Disharmonia Mundi if you like the Göteborg sound at all
