Other melodic death bands...

what band are you talking about??

insomnium? - if so that sounds killer and i will deffentally check out their new cd.
I was talking about Frozen Paradise...

Insomnium is more gloomy sounding. I guess they could be classified as doom metal but I don't really see it. They just have a lot of atmosphere in their music...One of my favorite bands, next to Kalmah of course :headbang:

yea i dont like doom metal.

and causemos do kick ass. the guitars are wicked but the vocals are weird. it's kinda like bal-sagoth meets bodom.

Causemos - http://www.causemos.net/

Here DeFy, check this out to see what I mean...

New, more uptempo song - http://www.insomnium.net/mp3_video/The Day it All Came Down.mp3

here's more of a slower-paced song - http://www.insomnium.net/mp3_video/Disengagement.mp3

If you want to hear more, check the site http://www.insomnium.net/download.htm

both of those songs do sound cool (the faster pace song sound really cool) but do they have solos???

what's the name of the CD that the faster pace song is on too?

I won't say that they don't have any solo''s because a lot of the licks *could* possibly be thought of as solo's but the majority of their music is Melody-based. I read an interview with one of the guitarists and he said that he tries to write more for the song rather than a display of technicality. I respect that because a lot of bands seem to lose feeling if they're shredding all the time. Not too say that shredding is bad, hell, Petrucci is my second fav guitarist next to Antti and I'm sure you know how well they can shred :loco: Anyway, if you like music with a lot of feeling, then Insomnium is a must to check-out.

btw, both of those songs are off of their new cd, Since The Day It All Came Down.

very cool. petrucci is very good but my all time favorite guitarist is Jason Becker.

Jason Becker is exteamly cool.

and a buddy of mine is going to sell me insomnium's new CD for only 5$ because he's got a few copies. so i'll have to listen to it.

Sweet, It's cool your picking that up. Definatley an under-appreciated band.

Let me know what you think of it after you get it.

Also, on a different note, Mors Principium Est's new album The Unborn, Is coming out. I'm loving every track on it, everyone should definatley check this one out!

edit: Jason Becker is cool, it's sad to hear what happened to him though. It seems the people with a true soul for music are the ones who suffer the most. i.e. Becker, Dimebag etc...

I just can't stand those wannabe-vikings you see. "omg I believe in odin and shit and im gonna get like a norwegian flag tattoo and viking symbols, because im a true viking!!1111"

I'm pretty sure the vikings weren't offended by what I just wrote. They haven't been around that much lately.

Infernium, do you agree that they've gotten ten times heavier!? I couldn't believe my ears when I heard the first sample a couple months ago. Compared to Inhumanity, their first album, it's so much more aggressive...Everyone into Melodic Death, which should be everyone on this board :D , should pick this one up!

I wonder what Antti thinks of all these new albums...Antti, if you read this, what is some of your most frequent listening material these days?

that's a good question. You should ask that in a new thread because i dought he'll be looking in the other melodic death metal bands... post.

maybe though ... :p

It seems that he views the threads every once and ahwile, when time permits, I guess...Maybe I will start a new one...I'm very interested to know the answer.

Well, it's a maybe heavier too but i has some new technoish parts too, not saying that's a bad thing tho. In the sites member profiles Antti`s influences seem to be a bit old school stuff so it's hard to say what he thinks of todays melodeath. Alltho it would seem a bit wierd if he would not like the genre at all since he himself is a part of it :)
