TLtS was a cool choice I think. It's a very unassuming album... then when the death parts kick in... damn. Makes me want to go dig it out of the drawer and pop it in.

Nah not really, I could have passed Spectre myself just to add another album, but my last picks (Metallica and Megadeth) are already popular, so I figured I'd wait a little while before adding another
 
I was referring more to your (+)ing of bands like Agalloch, Drudkh, or that Immortal album...that almost no one else considers to be worthy of such a high place in a best metal albums of all time list.

MDB/NM/Immortal

Glad to see MDB back on the list. I'm surprised that Angel Witch didn't get a nomination yet. I thought that would have come ahead of some of these other choices. I don't really follow trad/NWOBHM much, but I dig that album. I think it would have been up their in the olden days of the forum. Also surprised that no At The Gates albums have been on the list. At one point on this forum they probably would have had two albums on by this point.

I think I'm going to start voting down that Immortal album before it sneaks in. I really think that aside from having a good first two songs, there's nothing particularly unique or notable about it. It's quite ordinary to me. I would probably be down with Pure Holocaust though, for its general excellence.
 
every song on it is top-notch quality, there is no filler. years of silent sorrow has one of the best intros, tragedies and dark&light are some of the best songs since battles in the north.

At the Heart of Winter and Pure Holocaust were clearly the favorites in the Favorite Immortal Album thread. I didn't choose it because it's my favorite-- it's one of them but it's not my own #1 actually-- I chose it because it's an excellent representative of their work, it's all-around respected, and has no arguably-filler tracks at all, being short (6) and to the point
