The Albums Project

I get not liking the MDB album... but the people voting down Dismember... that's bizarre to me. LAEFS is probably the best swedish death metal album there is.

Well...like I just said it's not dislike for the MDB album so much as it's a bizarre choice for the BEST death/doom album. And LAEFS is top tier swedeath but better than Beyond Sanctorum, The Nocturnal Silence, The Red In The Sky Is Ours, or The Awakening? Nah ;)

TL;DR the list is currently a little to saturated with undeserving albums, the collaborative effect has been thrown off and only one or two people want to vote for any one album, while simultaneously we can't unite to take down an unworthy album because there's too many. I do agree Dismember should go ahead and make it, like, now, though.

Now that you mention it, maybe the way to go would be to reduce the voted list to ~15 options instead of 20. There's definitely too few people participating for 20 to see consistent competition.

Easily better than all but mabe TRitSiO and just because of its following. The vocals on that album give me a headache.

LAEFS is far better than all those albums mentioned (especially Beyond Sancotrum), and i even have a soft spot for The Nocturnal Silence.

Id have to agree with krow, LAEFS is the greatest Swedish dm album of all time.

Left Hand Path is another album that should get on this list soon, and concerning other Swedish dm albums id say The Nocturnal Silence, Dark Recollections and maybe one of Grave's first two albums.

edit: And as far as Agalloch goes, Ashes should have been their only album to even be in the top 100.

Though its not my all time favorite death metal album, imo no death metal has as much majesty as Beyond Sanctorum. That kind of "majesty" is reserved for albums like that and "Beyond the Wandering Moon" or "Far Away From The Sun".

I would be for that. Maybe even 10 (too extreme?) Just drop off the entries with the lower numbers of votes.

my personal favorite of Swedeath is LAEFS, but i could see the appeal in Necrophobic or early Therion which would make people vote for them. same goes for The Red In The Sky Is Ours.

as far as Swedeath, i'd like to see The Awakening, The Nocturnal Silence, Left Hand Path, Into the Grave, perhaps Grotesque's compilation or even Unleashed's first album, off the top of my head.

and although i'm new at this 10-15 sounds fair, since i can already see it's just like the same 5-10 people voting up and down the same group of albums every time.

I feel like that would be too restrictive. You guys keep talking about all the albums you want on the list, yet you want to lessen the amount of options.

Yes, it would seem restrictive, but the thing is dude, we have so many options we're getting *nothing* done.

I feel like that would be too restrictive. You guys keep talking about all the albums you want on the list, yet you want to lessen the amount of options.

But the way it is right now, there are albums that have been on for weeks (months in Coroner's case) and others that go from 2 to making it within several days. The same number of points would be cast, but over a fewer number of albums, thereby increasing the rate at which albums are pushed ahead.

AtHoW/Ashes/Dismember

I don't see what's not to like about Ashes being a top 100 album. The Mantle is #2, a fluke yes, but it shows some respect for Agalloch and after people said Marrow of the Spirit should be higher than Ashes I tried to it to the list and it was voted off.
