The awesome anime thread.

I have heard it is like an extra awesome Saturday morning cartoon. I have not looked into it much because its size scared me.:)blush:...:zombie:)

 Same reason I didn't start it for a while, but naw it's pretty brilliant. The voices are all perfect (Subbed) and there's only one or two really annoying characters. And they don't appear too much. Plus the major villians are actually pretty intelligent. The only real issue is the amount of Luffy related Deus Ex Machina that occurs, but by that point you're usually rooting for him anyway.

Paranoia Agent feels pretty shitty after five episodes :(
Yeah, I'm pretty skeptical of Satoshi Kon's talents. Even as kind of an artfag type drawn to more surreal or psychological anime stuff, I always come away from his work with the impression that he's a bit of a hack—his faux-auteuristic style combined with clichéd ideas just make him really boring. I did enjoy Paprika a bit, because the visuals and music during the scenes where she jumps into the subconscious world and falls through the sky are just really nice, but aside from that I can do without Kon. Paranoia Agent was a pretentious snoozefest.

Anyway, I'm watching Berserk for the first time in over a decade. Fuck I love this show.

For sure.

Oh, and: I don't know if I could ever bring myself to watch a show longer than Legend of the Galactic Heroes (which I still haven't finished), itself being 110 episodes long if you're only counting the main OAV. In general these days I'm happy when I find interesting shows that are only 13 episodes long, pickier when it comes to the standard 24-26, and anything longer than that had better be FUCKING good.

I think it is impossible to like Anime and dislike Berserk.

The only thing to dislike about it is the fact Japan is funding mindless moe-blob shows like K-On! rather making season fucking 2

It was kind of a terrible ending, but also kinda awesomely depressing. Ah well, I got the manga downloaded. So I'll probably start on that later.

The thing with the anime is that they kinda painted themselves into a corner by not including all essential characters, so to just get on with season 2 now with Skull Knight included all of a sudden would be awkward. To see how helpless everyone got in the last episode without Skull Knight saving the day was really horrible and depressing, especially since I hadn't read the manga either.

Just started watching Akagi.

It's pretty cool. It's about mahjong, but the subs explain it alright, and it's mainly about the lead guy being mindfuck kinds of awesome.

EDIT: Well 30 pages into the Berserk manga and it's already pretty different from the anime start

I do want to see Akagi. I've heard some people describe the guy as "the most badass dude in anime ever—and he plays mahjong." Which also reminds me that I would actually like to watch Hajime no Ippo at some point. Of course, one would expect more badassery from a boxer, but even as one who couldn't give two shits about sports in general I was pretty pumped watching a few youtube clips from the sequel.

Shit man, I almost wanna skip the original series and go right for Champion Road after seeing that, but I'm not sure that would be such a good idea...

Ai, I've got the first series downloaded, it's just I like to marathon my series and it's 72 eps.
It's next on the list after Akagi to be fair.

And holy fucking shit. Manga Guts is about 90% more badass than anime Guts.

I just started watching that one. The old style animation and the whole space thing (I generally don't like science fiction or anything involving ships/planes) has thrown me off for a long time. After three episodes however it seems like it's a pretty interesting show with other qualities. How many episodes have you seen, and is it worth it?

Well, I have an appreciation for "old style" animation and such, but the scope of the story pretty much makes LotGH a show that you watch for the unfolding epic drama. I'm only on episode 29, but it's already impressed me quite a bit... If you can deal with the animation that "leaves a bit to be desired" (I enjoy things that have me wanting more, so to speak) and have the patience for tons of political intrigue/warfare, LotGH is unmatched as far as epic space opera goes.

I'm continuing with LOGH and I like it very much.

I've been thinking of a couple of comics which would be nice to see made into 12ep animes. Sandman and Preacher would both fit very well into dark anime adaptions, perhaps Watchmen too.

I've been watching Madlax lately. I only have a few more episodes left. Can anyone give me
some recommendations? I'd like if you could list the genre as well as provide a little bit of
a description of what they're about, without spoiling anything.
