The awesome anime thread.

Just realised that Zeph could easily be this chick's twin brother:

She doesn't have the "I'm about to rape you smile" though.

Shit anime.
Anyone else seen Code Geass? That shit was awesome.
I've seen the first season and it is pretty good. It was obviously riding on the success of Death Note but I think I liked Code Geass more (mainly because I hated Light in Death Note :p).

Greatest anime I've watched in awhile: Nodame Cantabile, awsomeness ensured.

Watching Welcome to the N.H.K. right now. It started out abit annoying but picked up just after a few episodes. If you want a more mature love romance style anime without high school kids and characters with more problems than "how can I confess to her the right way?" I can recommend it.

I think i've seen the first episode of Nodame Cantabile, some kind of music anime right?
I'm watching a kinda strange anime now, Texhnolyze, i'm four episodes in but i still don't really get what it is about hehe.

Yeah, Nodame Cantabile is about classical music. Slapstick comedy together with some serious shit. You should watch the whole series.

Texhnolyze is really shitty too, in the same league as Ergo Proxy. ;)

When i started watching, even though i didn't get anything, i thought it seemed very mystical like an amazing story will unfold. But now after watching four episodes and still almost not getting anything i'm starting to suspect that it will be like that until the end of the series. But i generally like more serious animes so that's why i'm watching it.

You are pretty much suspecting right. I haven't finished it but I've watched around 9-10 episodes (don't remember) and I was thinking like you all the time, nothing really happens in it they just make "artsy" animations and tries to be weird and mystical but mostly fails. That kind of style works alot better in live action movies or tv-series imo.

Yeah i think i'm not going to watch it anymore. I'm in desperate need of some yakuza/mafia anime, that's how I found it. I'd like something similar to the episodes of Gungrave before everything gets all supernatural and silly, the yakuza episodes are so awesome.

Haha, yeah the good thing about Gungrave was the flashback about their youth which was most of the anime anyway. The beginning and the end was just boring.

Have you watched Speed Grapher, Monster or Darker Than Black? Really good more serious animes, abit supernatural stuff in some of them but tastefully done imo.

I've started to watch Darker Than Black two times but haven't continued for some reason, probably gonna watch it some day.
No I haven't watched Speed Grapher or Monster, will check them out.

Btw, if you want a serious anime try Welcome to the NHK. It isn't action at all though, but really dark in its own way. It deals with failure in life in different ways.

I've watched Monster now, that was a really great anime.

Just finished watching Berserk, if you've seen it, don't you agree with me when I say, what the hell? What was that? Why does it get all flipped out in the last two episodes, that was the worst ending to a series I've ever seen. Also, I don't get how the first episode is supposed to be after the last one in timeline.

Cool that you liked Monster! It was quite along time ago I watched it but it was great, I've considered to rewatch it for years. :p

About Berserk: Yeah the animes ends totally "wtf?" but the manga has the "real" ending, I haven't read it though so I don't know much about it except that everyone says it makes the series the best thing ever basically.

So, I'm watching Allison and Lillia and Lucky Star right now. I have no idea why I waited for so many years before I got around watching Lucky Star I mean I think Azaumanga Daioh is the best anime ever and this is pretty much in the same vein (not topping Azumanga Daioh, but comming close). Also Konata is pretty much my dream girl, why doesn't girls like her exist in the real world? ^______^

Yeah Monster was a really good one, it striked me how mature and un-cheesy the whole series was, and it was a relief that "monster" didn't mean something supernatural or anything.

Are the HunterXHunter OVA's related to the original series?

Indeed, it was quite refreshing actually. I've kinda searched for similar animes for quite awhile but I haven't found any.

Yeah, the HxH OVAs har just continuing the tv-series. They are a must if you like HxH (which everyone should, it is pretty much the best classic shonen anime/manga ever).

You both really should finish Texhnolyze. Or better yet, go watch the shorter series, Haibane Renmei. If you like that, go back and finish Texhnolyze. Done by the same people and have similar structures.

I'm glad some people finally got into Monster. Amazing series. More mature series you should watch (and I know I've been hyping these forever, everywhere I go) are Kino no Tabi and Mushishi.

Edit: http://www.funimation.com/video/?page=video&v=219 There, go watch the first episode of Mushishi.

I've started watching Haibane Renmei too, not my cup of tea either I think, though I've only seen 2 or 3 episodes but I've never been a fan of the more surrealistic stuff which is the vib I got from it.
Not going to finish Texhnolyze btw, a series which sucked for half the series is not something I'm going to spend more time on when I can watch series that are good from start to finish. Especially when the anime in question is the exact style I probably hate the most. :p

"Finally", I watched monster right when the anime was released. ;)
Kino's Journey is actually in my "to watch" queue, maybe I'll watch it next. Mushishi is a new one though, looks kinda interesting.

Haibane Renmei is by far my favorite anime series. That said, anime is for faggots.
