Are you people totally fucking oblivious to the fact that THE MAIN characteristic of Power Metal is powerful, clean, and usually high pitched singing? Wintersun cannot really be classified to one specific genre, but "Epic Melodic Death Metal" sounds about right to me, and it certainly is not fucking Power Metal.

Yes, because if it has harsh vocals, it's obviously death metal.

Wintersun fits pretty much every other criterion for power metal, vocals aside. So it's not that much of a stretch, to call them "power metal with harsh vocals", or "extreme power metal".

They might have DM influences/characteristics (such as the vocals, or tinges here or there in the music), as well as some folk influence, but music-wise, PM is the genre they are rooted in.

Anyways, DM bands that I like:

• Arsis
• Behemoth
• Cannibal Corpse (scoff all you want, but Tomb of the Mutilated is an awesome album regardless)
• In Flames (early stuff)
• Morbid Angel
• Necrophagist.

I'm not that big of a fan of death metal as a whole... I really like those bands, but I much prefer black metal overall, personally.
