Immediately happy that people actually speak foreign languages in this. Lately I can't much enjoy a movie when everybody speaks English even though it's set in non-English speaking parts of the world. Even worse when they try to make up for this by having the cast speak English in a foreign accent. Gorky Park is one of the worst examples of that.

Damn just noticed that the director's cut of Midsommar is 170 minutes long! My DVD copy is 120 minutes long, has anybody seen the director's cut and know if it's worth seeing?

Watching this soon:

I saw a couple movies this afternoon.

The revenge thriller Black '47 and the documentary Porndemic. Neither were something I'd recommend or watch again though.

@CiG , what did you think of sleepaway camp? Particularly the twist ending :err:

That ending really saves it. Without it I probably wouldn't think much of the film, with the subpar (even by slasher standards) acting and deaths that don't make any sense at all. Great practical effects though. The moments between the violence felt like a TV movie.

Agree more or less. Was a little too young to see it when it first came out but rented it alot shortly after. Ending completely took it to another level and a big wtf moment. Audience probably wouldn't even be phased nowadays by the ending, man how times have changed. Also the sequels are ridiculous

Watched yesterday. Feature length debut from Solondz (Welcome to the Dollhouse, Happiness etc.) which he's since disowned. Can see where he started the socially awkward characters thing, only he's the main actor in this one and he really was that socially awkward at the time. Not sure if he really thinks the whole film is that terrible, or if he just had a bad experience making it or doesn't like seeing his awkward past self as the main focus. Anyway, I thought it was pretty good.

@Bloopy have you seen Utu?

The facial expression at the end was the real "wtf" moment for me. As campy as the film is, that face is pure nightmare fuel.

I actually heard from a horror hound buddy of mine (who seems to have seen everything lol) that the sequel is actually better and crazier. So I'll probably track that down at some point.

Yeah the face and scream is the stuff of nightmares! Sequels are more over the top and comical. They're alright, worth giving a look.
