The Official Movie Thread

Watched The Lighthouse last night, loved it to bits. Freud and Jung drunkenly dancing a jig around the room, having fun but also fighting for dominance over the subtext. Also one of the more repulsive films I've seen in awhile, so descriptive and grubby in its all-too-human degradation. Eggers rules and I cannot wait to see his upcoming Skarsgård-helmed Norse film.

Color Out of Space. It's a little messy but I loved how it discarded any attempt at subtlety and just went for garish vfx vomit. Made me think of a more low-brow Annihilation in some ways

I agree with this, just finished watching it myself. Execution felt a bit conventional (at times bordering on corny family dramedy) but the lack of give-a-fuck Stanley brought to it saved it for sure. Also this was one of those weirder types of Cage performances where it's hamfisted enough to make you want to bite your fist, but subtle/suppressed enough to not take it into gloriously autistic and memorable places. Just kinda middling and wonky.

why in the world is the IMDB page for Dragged Through Concrete bombarded with 1 star reviews? Its as if every *PC faggot made numerous accounts and flooded the page with their nonsense.

I looked it up, doesn't seem to be much of a PC element (not outwardly at least) to it but clearly fake accounts by someone who seems like a barely literate teenager with an irrational agenda. You would think a site like IMDB would police that sort of thing better.

Freud for lighthouse?

I definitely read a few reviews that clearly have PC motivations behind them, some even straight up mentioned it. One said something about "these guys are catering to the anti-PC crowd". I also thought it was funny that a bunch of others went on to say "started with a a sex scene OH NOOO" "da racism" etc. Pretty sure most of the "its long and boring so ONE STAR" reviews are just undercover PC faggots and their alt accounts who are trying to sabotage the ratings. Sure, you can not like the film, but one star(and dozens of them in a row at that)? cmon now, that's straight up bullshit.

i mean zahler pretty unsubtly kicks that hornets nest a bunch of times, he knows what he's doing. id wager he finds all the outraged reviews hilarious tbh

Seeing as the director said Jung and only thing I know about Freud is fucking your mother, what are you referring to

The father/son relationship of the Thomases (Pattinson even preferring the more childlike "Tommy") that almost culminates in an explicit homosexual interaction. The whole film reeks of homoerotic sexual repression and more or less represents the negative Oedipus complex.
