My taste for movies is like more what you think than simple gore movies. Visitor Q isn't for everybody, cuz you gotta take the gore scenes off and pay attention to the criticism about the society.
Anyway, just saw 13 tzameti and i gotta say that the idea is brilliant, but the end... not so much.
I'm about to watch Delicatessen today, and i recommends to everybody with that kind of taste, cuz it's about a french black comedy.

A Serbian Film is just so damn entertaining that you don't even give a shit about the "disturbing factor". - 91/100
In terms of originality in the world of horror, I can quite confidently say that Martyrs is uniquely unique. There simply is no other movie like it. Truly one of a kind. - 98/100

And this is a question for anyone. If the point of the film is merely to expose the fact that we all harbor these twisted little fucked up fantasies, then I don't really hold it in that high of a regard.

I watched Wrong Turn 2: Dead End last night and it was surprisingly entertaining. It wasn't scary at all but it was fun while it lasted. I also had a little geek-out moment when I realised that the audio from the first kill scene is actually a sample used in an Awaiting the Autopsy song.
Since you're on the topic of disturbing/ violent films, what are everyone's thoughts on Battle Royale? Everytime I've seen it, it's been really late at night, so I've never been able to give it my full attention, but I thought it was awesome the first time I watched it.

Well, there are many situations. For example: The scene that the woman is helping her husband to take off the corpse of another woman from his dick shows how desperate she was to do something with her husband, together. If you pay attention, she didn't ask to him who was that woman, she was just glad to help him, no matter how weird the situation was.

It IS awesome. Tarantino said it was the greatest movie between 1992-2009. And that it was the movie that he wished HE'D made. If anyon could do a righteous remake, it would be him.
Kinji Fukasaku is an unbelievable movie director. If you really want something epic, check out his The Yakuza Papers, it is a Japanese gangster epic spanning 5 films and is, I would say the greatest gangster epic ever made; even superior to The Godfather. That's right. I said it.

I was actually kind of disappointed by Inglorious Basterds. The story didn't have quite enough depth to engage me, and it wasn't funny enough to be a comedy. Just a little too casual.
Purchased the Criterion DVDs of Naked and The Spirit of the Beehive a few weeks ago. Naked had a nice dark and raw mood to it while The Spirit of the Beehive had an enjoyable story and was visually beautiful.

Battle Royale had so much more potential IMO. It goes too far into exploitation territory to be taken seriously.

Considering those are all recommendations I (indirectly) got from you, that feeling is mutual. I still need to see Martyrs.
Not sure how many of these movies I'm mentioning would appeal to you, though. Some of these are movies for another side of me than the one that fell in love with Synecdoche.

I tried watching Battles Without Honor and Humanity, but I couldn't even finish it. I understand that it's supposed to be a deglamorized take on the Yakuza, but if that means it's gonna be 100 minutes of chaos and screaming I would much rather stick to the romanticized image of the Yakuza seen in Takashi Miike's more generic output.
Anyway, back on the topic of "disturbing" films;
The Untold Story. Amazing Category III-exploitation film. Anthony Wong plays a restaurant owner who kills people and makes meat buns out of them. Not just shocking, but better than most movies of its type.
Ebola Syndrome. Directed by the same guy who did The Untold Story, again starring Anthony Wong as a villain protagonist, could be considered a spiritual sequel to The Untold Story, and it's just as good if not better. Wong plays a despicable, murderous sleazebag and rapist who becomes a carrier of Ebola. It's an odyssey of madness and depravity and a lot happens within the span of its 100 minutes. Both this film and The Untold Story are quintessential exploitation in my opinion.
Suicide Circle. I love these weird Japanese horror movies that don't make a whole lot of sense because sense is so boring sometimes. Moderately gory, but I don't think of it as an exploitation film, because it's not a guilty pleasure to me, I think this is a genuinely amazing movie. Gorgeous, with a great soundtrack, and one of my favourite scenes in any movie ever. (Because the dead shine all night long)
