The thread about guns and stuff like that!

Okay.

I say that there is no reason to own a handgun. A handgun is only useful for hurting other people. Some people want handguns to make themselves safer. I say that owning a handgun makes you likely to use it in situations where violence is avoidable and killing is unjustified, such as a mugging or robbery. While every once in a while owning a gun might save someone's life, far more often owning a gun will get someone killed.

Ok, so if you want to bow down to muggers or robbers, that is your perogative. But demanding that others do the same is just ignorant. No fucking way would I allow someone (sure, you can make all the excuses in the world for WHY said person would rob or otherwise harm strangers for his own benefit) to steal from me, and I will use ANYTHING in my power (fists, blades, guns) to let this dicksuck know he ain't gettin over on me. Why in the bloody hell would any self respecting human being just LET someone do that?

when im old enough i hope to own all sorts of assault weapons, for defense and simply just because theyre cool.

Then we wouldn't have fireworks. Or most explosive devices. Meaning no mining. Meaning no oil, natural gas, coal, precious metals, copper, iron, etc.

Yeah... I can deal with gunpowder since it made our entire modern life possible.

(Yes, I know you're being sarcastic, for some reason I had to answer you seriously anyway.)

It would be pretty sweet to walk around with a sword, but yeah its kind of outdated. I carry a 1911, and also own an AK and Mossberg 12. I like to be prepared for any situation; and I spend 90% of my time in the woods anyway. Plus blowing old stuff I don't need into a million pieces is fun.

There are no gun laws here in Vermont, and we have the second lowest crime. I won't argue statistics though, as they can be bent to fit any point really. The fact is I don't give a crap what anyone says. I refuse to not be on a level playing field.

Standard Springfield GI .45. I like "no frills" weapons myself; I love how you can drop a mountain on it and it still fires.

The STI Trojan is a great gun for the money; of course all of this depends on what you use it for and where. It's a damn beauty too.

You're an idiot. Using a gun on someone for taking your wallet is going way too far. And legally, killing someone for mugging you isn't really okay.

But anyhow, if you need an explanation for why I don't want other people carrying concealed weapons, you have problems.

If someone is mugging you, then you are in real, imminent danger. Therefore, you may use deadly force so long as said imminent threat exists.

Shit, I can understand being against gun violence, but being against self defense is fucking retarded.

You're allowed to defend yourself with equal force. If someone is trying to mug you at gunpoint, you have every legal right to pull a gun on him, too.

i hate how the system favors the scum bag. once he breaks into a house he should loose all rights. v5 is right, how do i know their intentions. should i ask? probly no point in that, because i assume he would lie to me. and it just goes back to the question, why should i let someone break into my house with such ill intentions?

I agree with it in my case.. if someone breaks into my house theyre gonna die.. i've almost killed people for lesser reasons and im not proud of it but if you break into my house even though I realize you have a problem you will disapear ... the cops will not be called and you'll end up tied up in my closet for a year or so until I dispose of you. With that being said you can't just have a law where if people walk into your house unlawfully you can kill them. Then it's to easy to murder anyone... beat out your winow and invite someone over.. when they walk in the door blow there head off.... make sure it looks ligit.. and there you go. You just got away with murder.

or another example... your wife goes out of town for the night... she gets home and and walks in the house and it's dark ... you blow her head off for the life insurance and just tell the athoritys that you were sure it was an intruder.

Pretty fucked up law if you ask me buddy

it's too bad.. it's sort of like welfare and Employment insurance in canada it's a great idea but it is 50% of the time just needless.

ugh...wouldn't that be a bad idea? Can you explain me how you pull your gun on him in this situation? Do you think you're like Billy the kid and could pull your gun and fire before he has time to kill you?

I mean if he's holding you at gunpoint wouldn't trying to get your gun out result in a more dangerous situation than just giving your wallet? Or maybe you just wait and shoot him in the back when he tries to run away? How is a gun protecting you when someone has already a gun in your face?

A lot of people seem to have seen way to many movies and view guns as something that provides a lot more protection than it really does.

Finally, WeAreInFlames please stop arguing. You have to be the worst I've ever seen at trying to argue. You almost make me want to argue against you even though I share some of your views.
