The thread where you talk about non-metal music you like.

Apparently these guys are associated with "djent." Don't know much about that movement, and don't care; but these jams are pretty good. I also dig the kind of vocal melodies they use:

It feels like a fair percentage of this forum's population considers all non-metal beyond King Crimson/Dead Can Dance/Death In June/Kraftwerk/Swans to be a guilty pleasure.

Absolutely quality minimal.

I used to love this before I got into metal. I got this album when I was like 12. Fuck you it's still pretty ok.

After going to an electronic music festival I've realized there's a lot more to it than I thought. So many possibilities for strange rhythms, breaks, disjunctions, textures, etc.

I've been playing this track nonstop.

Ondar was born near the Khemchik River in western Tuva. Considered a living treasure by the Republic of Tuva, Ondar is granted a stipend and an apartment for the musical skills he possesses. Jovial and personable, Ondar is probably the best-known face of khöömei (Tuvan: хөөмей) throat singing to Westerners, appearing on the Late Show with David Letterman and in interviews for CNN and other networks.

He died after emergency surgery for a brain hemorrhage in Kyzyl on July 25, 2013. He was 51 years old

Anyone here ever listen to Deadbolt? They're some twisted version of voodoo and moonshine obsessed psychobilly surf rock.

More non metal randomness I've been listening to lately:

Christian Death - Sex and Drugs and Jesus Christ

The Birthday Party - Junk Yard (it blows my mind how angry this album gets, released in 1982)

I've also been generally messing around with Joy Division and goth rock/death rock.

This is awesome! There were a few Mongolian bands that I use to listen to that had throat singing, Yat Kha and Huun Huur Tu and you just reminded me of them. Was reminded of this band... could've sworn they had throat singing too, but the songs I heard on youtube didn't have singing. Still beautiful music though
