The (Unofficial) write anything you want page - part 2

here we go again. two packages say delivered and nothing. one says "delivered to individual". Nope, I was sleeping when they delivered it. I checked the apt office, and nothing. do they not require ID anymore?

the other says in the mailbox. not there.

this shit is getting old. I swear the the usps is run by the Down Syndrome Collective

or maybe the republican party has been actively dismantling and sabotaging the usps so they can later throw their hands in the air and say "see? socialism doesn't work!" and privatize the postal service and loot the pension fund

*sees a kilt clad middle aged man with fists in the air come running screaming in the distance*

whateves. just deliver my stuff.

you have one job. no excuses
i agree.

and i think you'll find that the one thing that will unite all nations on earth is complaints about the boneheaded idiot postal service

postnord (old swedish postal service, that became postnord after they decided to merge with the danish post and become 5000% worse) is THE ACTUAL WORST. like beyond parody bad.

my latest postnord complaint, which is a comparatively very low grade of shittiness but still, is that i recently paid for tracked international shipping to the united states, and through its whole run from my tiny ass village in northern sweden to the far yonder shores of the New World it has one trackable point in sweden:

1) when i registered it

if i track it after its arrival in america, it has like ten updates in a few days. i can see where it is and what last happened to it and estimated delivery times etc. you know, LIKE A TRACKABLE PACKAGE

it just boggles my mind how you can mess shit up like that. but it's union, so I shouldn't be surprised.

because now it's on me to locate them because their system shows "delivered". hopefully it's in that same neighbors mailbox they put my shit in last time.

the USPS was actually improving post-COVID as of late, at least for me. but then some of the stuff i sold took two weeks to get to chicago...wtf?

and now this. it really makes me not want to order as much

yes i'm sure it's the union's fault

you should pay people less and work them harder, maybe then they will do a better job

well, i supervise union members and they make an ass load and just complain about how hard they have it

might as well try your way.

i don't understand how it would help to have them make less and complain even more (because now they have even more legit things to complain about)

"hey these folks have it shitty, let's trample them into the dirt and give them something to REALLY complain about. haha they'll have to get second jobs to even afford rent. suck it."

i will never understand why you guys fetishize misery and suffering so much. i guess a nation founded on christian ideals will do that.

im not saying pay them a pittance at all. my point is that a lot of these union folks have no idea how good they have it or how spoiled they are. theyve never known anything else because they have been here 30 years. they would never make it in a company where their job is based on performance. the shit they take for granted and complain about (overtime is a good example, or lack thereof) are things other companies dont allow

ive been in a union and supervised a union. ive also supervised and been in non unions.

eh, it gets too abstract to discuss this because i don't know your specific circumstances. i'm sure there are nuances to it. just a couple lil points:

1) just because you could have it worse doesn't mean you have it good.

2) i'm not that much into trying to scare people straight by showing them that they could have it even shittier than they currently do. i think it's probably better to try and motivate people and try to encourage them to do better for themselves.

3) here's where i'm coming from: sweden is the most heavily unionized country in the world and no one except the liberals*, who want to tear everything down and build a randian fuck-u-got-mine hellhole, has very strong opinions on that. because the unions have fought for it for hundreds of years, we now get to enjoy some of the best quality of living and job benefits in the world. and somehow corporations still can make obscene amounts of money here and the ceos get to be coked up and fuck champagne bottles on their yachts or whatever it is they do. ya can have it both ways.

but i gotta imagine in a country where unions are so common and ingrained in society that the balance of power is a bit more sane. which, ofc, is the entire point of unions in the first place. maybe unions in america are shitty and tip the scales too far in the other direction, is what i'm saying. i don't know.

4) who gives a shit about "performance" anyway. most work that they insist should be done is meaningless or harmful anyway. fuck the man. i think we should all just get to kick back with graveland cds and chill. IF THE FUCKING POSTAL SERVICE WOULD DO THEIR GOD DAMN JOB.

* actual economic liberals. not whatever liberal means in america, which is like the literal inverse of the rest of the universe.

i just dont like entitled assholes. quit being a tittie baby and complaining. union or not

come here, do your job to the best of your ability. get paid. go home. rinse, repeat. seems simple enough dont it?

if you think you are worth more, then leave and go get more and more power to ya. but dont bring negative vibes here. you are always more than welcome to find another job. hell, i will give you a glowing reference.

i will agree with that to some extent. although surely there are legitimate things to complain about and there should be a way to voice those complaints.

i think what i was getting at with my third point is: if almost everyone is in a union, unions are not a big deal and therefore it doesn't encourage the little entitled baby kind of people in the same way
