What bands are bands that you just dont "get"?

They never beat "Appetite for Destruction". My description of a great album is an album which is the antithesis af what the band is all about, for Pink Floyd it's "Dark Side of the Moon", Metallica "Master of Puppets". Even if you don't like the band it has to be said that "Appetite" totally epitomises what Guns n' Roses are about. So if one description of a great album is "a defining album", then "Appetite is one of the best albums ever made.

Uh, I think you mean "epitome", not "antithesis", right? Otherwise, WTF?

LZ is decent, nothing more.

What I really don't "get" is Ghost Reveries. I have listened to it when I'm pissed, sad, normal, happy, and really happy. I JUST do NOT get it. Can someone explain it to me? I like the beginning of GoP and BotH but when the songs chill out and get repetitive (especially in BotH, that 3 minute intermission), I just completely lose touch with the songs.

In order to appricate Metallica, it's one of those things you need to live through. I was in high school back in the 80's when they first became popular. At that time, most had never heard that style of music. It was just fucking ausome! :headbang: Kids today could never have the respect for metallica that others has in the beginning.

Almost all "Pop Metal" bands

I've always agreed with this point, although younger people I talk to don't. I was 23 when Kill 'Em All came out. I have followed Metallica throughout their career. When somebody "argues" with me that they have heard all of Metallica, I don't think it's the same. Like me and Opeth. I was introduced to Opeth in 2001. Although I've heard and own all of their albums, I didn't follow them from the beginning, thus I have a different viewpoint on their earlier works that differs from those who have been with them longer. Metallica ruled along with Slayer and Exodus, all deemed speed metal at that time.

And I didn't mention before that I also don't get ANY pop music or country music for that matter.

I hate, Megadeth, Pantera, Cannibal Corpse, Death Metal (can't stand the shit), country, most hip-hop (although most love it)./
I like Opeth, Agalloch, Porcupine tree, Nest, Machiinehead, Downset, Sahade (good jazz), Most blues +jazz music, dance (especially of the 80's).

I actually saw Metallica on the Kill em all Tour when they first toured the US. No one who was not there can understand they fury of Metallica when there was nothing else out there like this.

I saw Slayer on their first tour as well, and I will never forget when they came out for there encore playing "Die by the Sword"..... ah the good ole days. I still have Kill Em All on VINYL!

Tool owns DT so bad its... not even measurable.

DT as in dark tranquility ?

DT's guitar playing is ten times more interesting than tools.

For the person that can't stand death metal but likes shit bands like downset, machine head you're an idiot. You are not hearing the right death metal.

downset and MH make some of the most stupid music i've heard.
