Worst metal albums of all time

Im not going to claim any of these are the worst, because there are obviously going to be worse albums out there that my ears have luckily avoided.... These are rather my most disapointing albums

Not including anything by any Nu metal, metal core etc.

1. Metallica: St. Anger - The let down Factor was massive - no solos, crap drum sound, out of tune vocals etc. etc. We waited how long for that pile of shit?!

2. O.S.I (1st release) - another i was let down by, i guess i was just hoping for something a bit more Moore era dream theater.

3. Load/reload/Risk - All three albums just represent such a disapointing departure from anything that resembles their roots. Crush em is the worst offender of any track on these albums (WTF is with that disco beat?!). Megadeth have however since made up for this tripe, metallica have not....

Thats all off the top of my head

This thread sucks. It's just asking for a flame war.

I love the first 4 Korn albums. I love Dragonforce and Rhapsody.

I also love the first two System of a Down albums. Absolutely killer songs, and it's super unique and original. That stuff is great.

System of a Down might not appeal to everyone, but they should at least be given credit for being original in their approach to hard rock. How many other bands can come across with a social/political undertone to their music, but still have a sense of humor at the same time? Some of their stuff is pretty freekin' hilarious if you listen to it (Sugar, Fuck the System, Cigaro, etc.), while making a point. I personally don't like all of their stuff, but I think it's at least good to see someone trying to be original out there.

As far as bad metal:
Pretty much all "nu metal" (Limp Bizkit primarily, Slipknot, etc.)
Korn (there's some cool stuff on their first CD though)
Metallica - St. Anger, for obvious reasons

St Anger, Operation Mindcrime 2, anything by Nightwish, the new Pearl Jam...

Pearl Jam is not metal, but they certainly kick ass. I havent heard their new stuff though.

I also happen to think Dragonforce is catchy as fuck.
everyone has a different opinion, this thread is pointless.

of course everyone has different oppinions and this thread is pointless. please point out one thread that has any sort of significant impact on anyone's life? C'mon, just have fun with it and don't take it too seriously. it's all entertainment.

I think it'd be more fitting to ask what people's least favorite metal albums are, because no one here has the ultimate authority to decide what is best or worst..that pesky thing called personal opinion gets in the way. It's when that happens that things get ugly, and quite stupid, frankly..

I agree. I prefer to say things like "bands/releases that I just don't get" because it is normal for someone to get upset when you see someone bashing one of your favorite bands. If we all liked the same thing, there would only be a handful of bands out there.

I'm dating myself here with this one...

I believe the worst album from a band that had previously made good music was "Objection Overruled" by Accept.

I remember reading a write up about this album before I bought it where the author said "If you loved "Balls to the Wall", you should really like this album".

Oh, how wrong he was. I love 'BTTW', and I absolutely HATE 'OO'! With the exception of the song "Bulletproof", every song on that album is just horrific! Some of the most lame and immature lyrics I've ever heard.

Anyway, that's just my 2 cents. I would also include some of the late albums by Annihilator, but they aren't popular enough for most people here to care. Of course, neither is Accept probably, so whatever. :Smug:

Yeah, I was a big Accept fan during that time too. I don't know if Accept had someone from America helping them with the lyrics and song structures when they wrote BTTW, but all of those songs are well written and the lyrics (for the most part) aren't that cheesy. I still love that album and consider BTTW (the song) to be one of the best metal songs ever.

My guess is they tried to go it alone with OO and, well... That's all she wrote. :)

Enslaved. Everyone creams themselves over this band and they aren't that good. they say "ooohhh extreme prog!" every song drags on for like an hour and a half and then the next boring ass song starts. gah... fuck enslaved.

because no one here has the ultimate authority to decide what is best or worst.

But who could be fucked typing out 'Your least favourite metal album based soley on your personal opinion and experiences you have drawn from life also taking into account that other people might take offence at your choice and should therefore be worded carefully as not to instigate a flame war.' in the TOPIC section when starting a thread?

People should not need the obvious spelled out for them.

btw...i can't decide if St Anger or Christ0 is the worst metal album :)
