Worst type of metal fan?

Agreed. Many so called troo bands seem to be arbitrarily selected, simply because they played their music during metal's formative years; that is, early-mid eighties to early to mid-nineties. There may be ultimately nothing too special in their music other than the fact that they were first in being "nothing too special".:p

But it all hinges on one's preferences again, and I don't want to get into that.

shit... no good music in 10-15 years... try 25... LOL

seriously I'd have to say first order of business would be those that bump old hate threads because... well... no one really knows

otherwise my observation would have to be those that cant accept what anyone else listens too, cant accept what some band writes because thats what they are into and somehow manages to accumulate a fan base. Like WOW, imagine that... different people like different things... what a fucking revelation

Yeah its the same that some bands are forbidden to critizice in certain places because of their role in the history of metal. Sometimes I actually think its an advantage to not know much about a band before one hears it because it keeps the mind more open and the making up of ones own mind is easier.

I used to subscribe to a swedish metal/punk magazine called close-up but ended up not reading it because I found their attitude towards certain bands and/or styles of music ignorant or dumb and felt as if they wanted everyone to think as they did. And believe me there are people who are "close-up metalheads" believing all they read there.

They seemed to dislike most heavy/power metal for one. In an article/interview they basically poke fun fun at Manowar. Sure they are an easy taget but still. They are also famous for choosing to not include bands whose ideology they dont agree with. Therion for one (because of Christoffers involvement with the "swedish democrats" - a nationalistic, allthough not racist, party) and for whatever reason Marduk (dunno why).

The narrow-minded fools who hates upon a whole sub-genre of metal after hearing one band and are trolling\loving bands they haven't heard cause of other "metalheads" do so. "True posers"

close-up is bias towards bands/or genres?I never hear of it until now.

They are totally biased and the whole magazine reeks of complacency. At first it was fun to read their stuff but it grows old and boring quite fast. With that being said I havent actually read the magazine for years now. I sometimes sample an issue here and there but I always find its a waste of money.

No specific genre but right now I think the worst type of metal fan is the one that's just in it to impress people. You know, the kind that'll shoot you down for mentioning Cannibal Corpse and call them "mainstream" to try to seem cool? Those douchebags? Yeah I hate 'em too.

Of course they're mainstream; their fanbase is huge. Mainstream should not be treated as a derogatory term
Black Sabbath, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Iron Maiden, for instance are all mainstream in that respect.
