but mainstreammetal :eek: uhm, its not right to call metal mainstream. but if you have to do so its the NUrage (and now lots of you will say it isnt metal :p )
 
mainstream can be applied to metal too. like mainstream swedish death metal. obviously there are bands that are swedish death metal that we havent even heard of. and obviously people that go to all of korn's live shows and buy every piece of their merchandise will most likely not know what swedish death metal even is. its mainstream in the sense that those who listen to the particular music know about this band.

you may even argue that mainstream are bands that the bigger population enjoys. lets take britney spears for example. yes she is known all over the united states. she is pretty mainstream right? what about dahler mehndi? do any of you even know who this guy is? he is even MORE popular than britney spears considering all the population of india knows who he is, and there are much more people in india than the u.s... so what really would mainstream be?
 
Wow... now THIS thread is hoppin'! Well, what can I say that hasn't been said already... Slipknot has had some rockin' songs, but hey, they've been turned into a big-time product for 14 year olds to trash their rooms to, and that's that. Opeth is WAY, WAY beyond any of that ... So, why do we care what this person writes about Opeth? I think we all know that Opeth is like Guinness... an acquired taste but GOOD SHIT.

And I think whoever coined the term "mallcore" was a fucking genius. hahahah, what a great word...

And by the way, STAFFAN... that picture of Colin Powell you put up in response the flame was HILARIOUS!!!! Perfect comedic timing... ah me... good form on that one, good form.

I, personally, wouldn't put any stock in what those make-up clad fags say. Their drummer is the only one with "any" talent in that mess. Their not even on the same level as "OPETH the almighty".

I still thinks Slipknot is ace, and that lots of 'metalheads' dont like them because theyre selling lots of albums.

I was really surprised when they became big, cause i knew them few months before their big bang. (i DL a mp3track on lycos cause it was the most downloaded metalmp3 there was. (me inside) and fucking hell, no-one cant deny they are sounding fucking alternative. Thats the reason why they sell so much, i dont know much more crazy bands (who are making something decent) as them.
 
Considering the source, which is a band that has zero crediblity outside a fucking shopping mall, they aren't fit to even think the name "Opeth."

Not now, not then, not ever are they even remotely metal. I'd listen to Cinderella before I'd listen to that half-note bullshit!
