Nightwish - I've liked everything I've heard from them so far

Yeah, it was a let down, but I don't think it's as bad as people make it out to be.
Ditto!

Honestly though, I don't know how you can find enjoyment out of IR. VOTD is far superior to the other two albums in their catalog.

My favorite is Sonic Firestorm. Valley is better than Inhuman. But they're all fun...I recognize, of course, the redundancy of owning more than 1 DF album.

Any hate for this album is likely due to (1) the thin production (done perhaps intentionally after the bassist died) and (2) the more progressive songwriting, which is a tax on accessibility and thus a deterrent to those into more popular metal. Metallica, in both eras are regarded as a very popular metal band, so when they release an album not so characteristic of a popular metal band, they are bound to get some heat for it (but not from the REAL metal fans, of course).

I'm a real metal fan and I happen to really dislike And Justice For All. I'm pretty much a Cliff Burton purist in regards to Metallica.

It's metalcore with a very poppy influence. I actually really like it, but I can see why people would pass it off.

You of all people listen to more shit thin production black metal than anyone (no offense), yet the first thing you point out is the "bad" production... I can listen to the thin production black metal & enjoy it... Yet I happen to think Justice has perfect production. I guess I grew up on that album so the production never bothered me. I happen to think it is one of the best produced metal albums ever.

AJFA's production is nothing like black metal. It's production is clean and professional, but thin in that it lacks in the bass department, and thus suffers from lack of heaviness, which I think is necessary in thrash metal to some degree.

Black Metal, on the other hand, traditionally has low grade production, which helps create atmosphere, which you don't find on AJFA. What lacks in the bass in black metal is made up by the atmosphere, a wall of sound in the upper registers rather than lower. AJFA has no wall of sound because it is too well-produced for atmosphere, and not bassy enough for heaviness.

I really love this Satyricon release, I think a lot of people are either angry or disappointed with it, due to the whole "modern" black metal thing. I also loved Volcano.
As much as I loved Volcano, the new one was a letdown for me. Just meh. :Smug:

:kickass: I love All That Remains and Darkest Hour.

hmm well the list of stuff that i like that people here dont is pretty big

All That Remains
Bullet for my Valentine
Children of Bodom
Avenged Sevenfold(city of evil and sounding the seventh trumpet).
Job for a Cowboy
Waking the Cadaver
Suicide Silence
See You Next Tuesday
Trivium
Atreyu
Necrophagist
3 Inches of Blood

there is probably more but i dont care to list them all.
