hardcore (80s stuff like black flag, minor threat etc)
emo (indian summer, still life, navio forge...)
screamo (saetia, spirit of versailles, envy, la quiete etc..)
post-emo (early sunny day real estate, christie front drive, knapsack)
pop-punk/melodic hardcore (lifetime, hot water music, early saves the day)
indie pop (rilo kiley, saturday looks good to me, heavenly, the postmarks etc)
indie rock (this is a ridiculous wide category but idk sonic youth, early weezer, pavement etc)
shoegaze (my bloody valentine, slowdive..)
60s ye-ye (francoise hardy, france gall, chantal goya..)
post-rock (mostly early stuff - later talk talk, bark psychosis, tortoise, though i like some newer stuff like godspeed you! black emperor and neil on impression)
jazz (a love supreme and later coltrane, sun ra, ornette coleman, fusion-era davis, etc)
that postrock/hardcore genre that people are calling "post-metal" but i refuse to call it that so lets just say "bands that sound like isis"
prog rock (king crimson, camel, area..)
idm (autechre, aphex twin, squarepusher etc)
other experimental electronic music/ambient (aoki takamasa, maeror tri, fennesz etc..)

a lil romantic-era classical (brahms, beethoven etc)

My musical taste isn't as diverse or well-rounded as I want it to be. Most of the time I just listen to metal, more often death metal. But it doesn't mean I wouldn't be opened to other genres like classical music and some fast jazz music.
Don't like rap, pop rock, or techno.

ey Wires & Waves I think you should say bands that sound like Neurosis instead of bands that sound like Isis because Isis is basically a Neurosis clone, especially their older stuff.
