COB start writing new album

In my opinion, the album sounds so far like a summary of the 4 first (best) albums of bodom, in a good way. I like :).

E: according to the samples, of course. But i'm pretty sure that it wont disappoint me.

The Dead Man's solo sounds very interesting, slow solos always leave space for some funny techniques to colour it up.

Actually by listening to BBM in HD the low parts sounds very HCDRish, but yeah kind of preamature to judge, but looking veeeery good :)

My favorites so far are Scream For Silence and Dead Man's Hands On You. Waste Of Skin and Your Days Are Numbered sound great too. Transference is too simple and gets boring quickly, same applies to Halo Of Blood. Both of them have great parts though.

Finally... I'd say the songs sound strangely similar at first. Some thoughts:

Bodom Blue Moon - Very creative atmosphere for the song title... I expected this to have some total win melody going on, but it's grunting heavy. The thing that creates the right feeling for the song title in this sample is the echo in Alexi's vocals creating an atmosphere of a barren land where you can see nothing but the moon. Technically you could say this is Blooddrunky, BUT, this heavy riffing is somehow atmospheric. There's some keyboards in the background I'm sure. Sounds fucking good, I like the sample. Makes me want to go to a forest in a car at night to blast this song... Night atmosphere.

Your Days Are Numbered - Disappointed with this sample. It doesn't deserve to be called the fastest Bodom song if there's nothing but screaming over a basic beat and useless riff! I hear some useless guitar wankery that's nothing new, non-personal and non-atmospheric. It's clear now this is the weak element of the album, basically what the reviewers complained about, the occasional boring moments. However, these are just random samples and I can't wait to hear the full thing. Anyway, clearly this is not another SNBN. Maybe this sample just isn't the best one, but I'm happy with all the other songs.

Dead Man's Hand On You - Strangely comforting soundworld, enjoyable to listen to. The part starting at 4:02 sounds cooool. Sounds like one of the best songs. Night atmosphere. Gentle and creative playing around with atmosphere. Nice.

Still missing some more epic ideas, but let's see how the songs turn out. These are just short samples. There's still a couple interesting songs, Damage Beyond Repair is said to include one of the best Bodom riffs, while All Twisted is said to be one of the best songs.

This album has potential to be my 3rd favourite Bodom album after FTR and HB. The soundworld is nicely atmospheric and heavy.

Transference: Discussed before. Interesting quote: "It's very different from the rest of the album. In a good way."

Bodom Blue Moon: The sample doesn't impress me too much, I got some AYDY meets BD vibes. Sounds like it's the main riff. Hopefully the chorus adds to it.

Your Days Are Numbered: The sample sounds more happy. They say it's really old school and even Hatebreeder like. That to me is impossible. But I do look forward to this one a lot. Probably the most promising song so far for me.

Dead Man's Hand On You: I've always liked Bodom's slower songs and this one could be another favourite of mine. The part at 4:23, as far as I can hear, sounds brilliant.

Verdict so far: The songs are really diverse and you can't say how the album sounds in general, but some songs are AYDY meets BD. Some songs are HCDR/FTR. There are definitely RRF influences. I won't go as far as bringing HB into the picture just yet.
But so far it pretty much combines everything Bodom has ever done and made an album that won't be loved by some and hated by others, but more liked by a lot of people. Your basic normal distribution.

Well imagine "your days are numbered" with old rig and Alexi's vocal, it would be really like FTR era but unfortunately (or not) they got other equipment and Alexi's vocal are just not the same

Could not agree more except, it actually sound like warheart or hatebreeder the song, with Alexis old rig it might have been right for Hatebreeder the album. Still too early to tell, hope the album leak, already bought it so I don't care :-P

Sry i had Hatebreeder in mind not FTR :D
But yes, we can only wait and hope to get the best album since HCDR :)

In my opinion that wouldn't be very hard. Haven't loved more than two songs from each album since HCDR. And I absolutly hate both the AYDY? and BD guitar sound and vocals.

Just one more month...

Bodom Blue Moon: I expected something else, don't know what really... maybe a more calmed down song with keys and stuff. Too AYDY to my ears.

Your Days Are Numbered: Generic thrashy song. We'll have to wait to see if it's more fast than its seems.

Dead Man's Hand On You: Weird. I LOVE all the slow songs but these... it's strange, my mind is closed when I heart the fragment, I have to hear all the song

Whaaat!? I think this album is gonna be a total party album with a sledgehammer at your ''enemies'' appartment while laughing towards insanity.
I am so addicted to listening to both of these sneakpeeks I wanna carve my brains out.

I think this album really has that blue energy around it. The soundworld is mostly blue and black. Some other colours too occasionally, but that's the main colour. So glad they're using the keys again to make a blue'ish energy to the sound. Definitely excited, it's much closer to the soundworld I prefer. Hope it's epic as shit, full of adrenaline and atmosphere... still gonna hold my breath a little to see how many gems there are still locked away from our ears. It's promising and I'm already sure it's better than the last albums, but I still reserve judgement on how much killer ideas it contains.

I made this post to tell how the album seems to have a very "night" atmosphere (apart from Transference and YDAN). Especially Halo of Blood, Bodom Blue Moon and Dead Man's Hand give a very nightly feeling. When listening to the Dead Man's Hand riff in the sample, it feels like "watching others sleep at night" thus the mythical balladic feel.

Can you tell me how you find it blue? Or any other color.. For myself I find my own ways to describe this by emotions, such as full throttle rage, pure energy filled and controlled anger or something between.

Edit: Also I find the lyrics and song names interesting and try to figure out the story behind it.

You can't deny that Alexi's really put some good fucking effort into the vocals this time, and it shows very well. All of the samples pleased my ear. Can't wait.

I, on the other hand, either like a song, or not.

I have many times, i mean many times, thought, what the hell is going on in Joonas' head :D

I liked YDRN around 3:10 made me think to that riff in Bodom after midnight (tatatat TATA tatatata TATA:dopey:) Overall this one sounded good!
I didn't like the two other ones ... sound like blooddrunk or RRF to me. :(
