COB start writing new album

Actually, Bodom Blue Moon would fit on RRF no problem I think.
Thematically, this is probably going to be my favorite album since FTR, but technically they still carry some ideas from RRF.

Not a huge problem for me though since I somewhat enjoyed that album.

Dead Man sounds like another classic slow Bodom song, perhaps their best since Punch Me I Bleed, possibly even better..

I'm not sure about the other songs yet. I'm not going to judge them off these samples because I didn't like the chorus sample from Transference very much, and I ended up liking the full song a lot.

Don't look at music mathematically. This album actually has spirit in the riffing, unlike RRF. Bodom Blue Moon sounds like fucking genious, so atmospheric, it's again like that FTR vibe with young gangsters with knives and baseball bats drinking under a bridge close to lake Bodom waiting for an unlucky passenger to walk by, next you see the shadow of the Reaper as they rip his spine out and drink his/her blood, in the gloom of a blue full moon... same atmosphere, but less of the magic of youthful alcohol drinking bringing consolation to depression. This is kinda slightly different, but I'll analyze better when it's out...

@Joonas

again, those descriptions

I mean yes, the theme and mood paint the picture, but a lot of Bodom fans are musicians, and will pay attention to those technical details. Music was more mysterious and overwhelming before I learned how to dissect it:( But I guess this is true about most trades in life.

Dude......

He should write the stories for their music videos, honestly it'd probably end up better than most

Anyway back to the music,

Bodom Blue Moon was not what I expected at all. From the title I had a much much different view of it but it's kinda cool, not one I'm very fond of.

Your days are numbered from the sample u can hear it sounds punkish like they said, but the parts going on while they talk are pretty cool, and yeah the part around 3:00 reminds me of bodom after midnight too

Dead Mans Hand on You I think will be awesome. From the way they describe it it sounds pretty interesting and the song sounds awesome too, especially the solos while they talk

Joonas needs to write and direct an indie Bodom horror flick.

I've seen some really bad shit, so I can make something based on a reality. Let Joonas do the fictional movie aight?

E: Urban dictionary on Waste of Skin

Waste of skin:
A person so useless, worthless, and pointless that it's a shame they're taking up perfectly good skin some poor burn victim could be using.
I guess we all know one or more.

ok time for review :
Bodom blue moon : i expected more epic feeling in that one, a magical soundworld ala "triple corpse hammer blow" or "tast of my scytes" to be honnest. but this song is going to be bloodrrunky unfortunatly. btw the verse reminds "Cry of the nihilist" and "tie my rope" which is good for me, but that melody that comes after reminds me "roadkill morning" chorus which i hate.

Your day are numbered : the snipet start with a catchychorus that turned into a fast triplet riffing with a fast alexi trademark solo that reminds me fast song in HCDR in a good way (HCDR is my 2nd favorite). that riff after the solo sounds Hatebreeder-ish to me.

Dead man hands on you : a breath taking soundworld, for a moment i was stunned i was like watch out! someone gonna kill you! or "you re going to die". this song sounds majestic and its gonna beat all the slow bodom songs, ever.

dead mans hand on you sounds like it could potentially be my favourite slow bodom song. other 2 sounds sweet too but ill have to wait for the full songs to form an opinion.

Wish the keys were louder at 2:25 during your days are numbered. Hoping there will be a part during the song where those keys are more prominent. Would suck if they don't take advantage of that.

Bodom Blue Moon does remind me of Cry of the Nihilist. Upbeat main riff with dark/melodic chorus.

Not complaining, as CotN was my second favorite song from the last album.

I've actually been thinking what a cool project it would be to do a script for a brutal and mysterious Bodom horror movie... But I'm not a movie director... I'm not a musician either... even tho I have these ideas. But I actually have a different kind of project at work, where I'm using my ideas and inspiration... It could be interesting to people who like Bodom, there's maybe some similar vibes and elements... you'll find out eventually.

After hearing halo and transference, these samples are really surprising me. Transference is the only song so far that sounds old school to me. I don't count Halo because that's just a random black COB song thrown in the mix. The samples thus far sound like the previous three albums. I'm only going off the few seconds of material, though, because I can't hear the songs too well while they're talking.

I don't even care whether the songs sound old school or like recent material, they sound awesome. Dead Man's Hand On You sounds like it could potentially be one of their greatest songs ever.

First of all, and because this really bugs me. People complaining about how good the old tone was and how it'll never be like that again: are you just plain deaf or your brain has some sort of process through which it transforms any new Bodom tone into a horrific mix of AYDY's and BD's worst tones mix? Because otherwise I just don't know what the fuck's going through your head, but don't laugh at Joonas' "music colours" theories because yours with the tone isn't better. Yes, there's no OMG GP1000, but this album's tone blows SW's crappy's and HB's excruciatingly dry's tones out of the water, and can easily compete with FTR and HCD if not be better. And no, I'm not talking ETID tone (which btw can't emphasize how happy I am that it got remixed/mastered for the Holiday album), I'm talking about the actual FTR album tone. Ok, rant nº1 over. Now on to the mind bogging.

Ok, I thought everybody would figure this out, but since it seems that nobody does I'll just slip it in here:

THIS ARE 10 SECOND SAMPLES!!!

Everybody was waiting for the orchestra hits and amazing FTR vibe from Bodom Blue Moon because it's what the reviews said and they just gave you the heaviest riff of the song and no melody, and all of a sudden it's RRF all over again and it's gonna be the worst? Take the samples for what they are, 10 fuckign second snippets, that's it. If you wanna go into the "oh but I hear the ultralow volume rest and it's shit/great" go ahead, but as nice as it is to have something, this is in no way representative of the songs themselves.

When they released the Shovel Knockout interview with Matt Hyde all we could hear was the melodies, and then the song came out and it started all thrash and strong, which don't lie because nobody was expecting. Which all goes to say: wait until the full songs are out before both crucifixing onr enthroning them.

That said:

Bodom Blue Moon: whine about it all you want, but the riff is not bad at all, although could have used doubling on the "lead"/"melody"/whathaveyou.

Your Days Are Numbered: I am very, very excited for this one. Also, there you go you orchestra hit lovers.

Dead Man's Hand On You: I will have to wait for the full song, but doesn't look too bad. Still a bit skeptical on the clean guitars/vocals, will have to wait till I hear them I guess.

Totally agree with you.

I did say that Bodom Blue Moon would fit on RRF, or at least that riff reminded me a bit of RRF. That doesn't mean it's bad. I like RRF quite a lot.
You are absolutely right about the samples being just a few seconds, and that it doesn't represent the entire song in the slightest. But it definitely does it's job. I'm far more excited for HoB than I was for RRF or BD.
