Being proud of your own heritage is fundamentally retarded.
I think you can be proud of your heritage without hating or discriminating against others. If you can do that, I don't see the problem with it.
What do you mean by heritage?I think you can be proud of your heritage without hating or discriminating against others. If you can do that, I don't see the problem with it.

For me, being of 3 or 4 backgrounds of ancestors but for this example I'll use the Irish one, well I never went to Ireland, don't know much about it, doesn't seem that interesting of a place to me compared to other more "majestic" places. If my family hadn't told me I wouldn't have knew and would've went on my way as what I essentially am, an American Mutt. I'm not saying it's wrong to be proud of one's heritage, rather racial pride is a dangerous thing, but as an American of a few backgrounds, you tend to rarely ever focus on your ancestral background.
I understand that people care for their ancestral backgrounds, I didn't say anywhere that it was a bad thing to do so, I was actually interested if you had been proud of having a Confederate Southern heritage as opposed tot the usual ancestral one, since that is the most common form of heritage pride where we both live and it seems most of us Southerners here don't put a lot of emphasis on ancestral heritage or pride since we don't live as ethnic groups(Italian, French, etc..) like some people do.Just because you don't care about your ancestral background doesn't mean nobody does.
I think even racial pride is ok, if you don't discriminate or hate other races. Obviously, this is probably not possible for the majority of people who are proud of their race.
