I think a lot of the criticism of DT has some justification, but people are way too severe. They have definitely put out some good songs as well as whole albums, I just think they've been in decline for a while too. SFAM is pretty good tbh, Train of Thought is pretty bad.

I was actually pretty impressed with him live, he seemed to hit all the high stuff pretty well.
FYI , LaBrie had health problems for years with his throat hence the bad vocal performances but lately he has gotten way better as the recent live album Score showed but I wouldn't want to disturb you during your

I like some DT and i have a DVD of theirs, and labrie is far from impressive live. sure he can hit the notes (sometimes) but man his tone is terrible, that is why people dont like him, his tone, sure he's technically good, but meh.

yes. the only reason petrucci gets all the credit, is because most people havent heard Loomis still. but its definitely easy to say that Loomis schools Petrucci without a doubt.
Eh, when it comes to overall speed, I'd say Petrucci is quite a bit faster. And anything other than that is purely who's style you like more. Personally, I agree, Loomis kicks Petrucci's ass (although I can still appreciate the feel Petrucci DOES put in his) and his solos are far from wankery.
Which is why Loomis is a pretty bad example. There are better ones, but none on this forum, because no one here listens to anything with particularly fast guitar playing anyway. Loomis is one of the few exceptions.
