funny. because neither him nor i made that assumption because you lacked the necessary information. and if we HAD assumed...and had been wrong, im sure you would have made every effort to point out how we should assume. so basically youre trying to stray from the main debate as much as possible and try to point out other people's comprehension and literacy skills due to your own oversights and shortcomings. weeeeee

amazing!

I figgered more people here would like DT. Personally I think Awake is a pretty good album, has 5 or 6 great songs on it.

Labrie kills them, but I'm surprised at all the rips on Petrucci. No emotion.....nonsense. Every shredder gets that tag and its almost never accurate, people seem to automatically associate fast playing with Dragonforce-style wank, Petrucci is on a far higher level. Hadn't listened to them in years before hearing the Live at Budokan disc, and the dude absolutely tears through the whole concert, I was very impressed at how good he's gotten.

When I watch Petrucci play live and it comes time for his solo's, I always feel as if he's concentrating to much on fucking up and that takes away alot for me in his playing.

Yeah, live they're not exactly the most energetic band around.
That is one of my points of criticism, live music should be more about chemistry and less about an exact translation of the album to the stage. Although I always love to hear good playing on stage, but you know what i mean.

Honestly, the idea of metal being mainstream (Slayer reaching #2 on Finnish charts, anyone?) kinda scares me. I don't think I like the idea of 5 year olds running around making Alexi Laiho their role model, to say nothing of the themes of the music. Gimme a society where Britney Spears is the fucking mainstream, and metal is where it belongs, in the underground.
