Expensive clothes

I actually just buy nice stuff when its on sale or from their "clearance" stores. Even super high end places like Neiman Marcus and SAKS have clearance stores where last season's shit is marked down sometimes 80%. So I've got some nice 300$ shirts I only paid like 50$ for. Things like that I'll do. I've got about 8 pairs of $250 jeans but spent about 80$ on em instead.

They certainly are made better. Stronger denim... better stitching... especially the shirts. Its noticeable for sure, but then sometimes you see shit thats just out of control. 800$ shirts? No way... if I was a millionaire I'd still never do that dumb shit.

I buy my clothes from the cheapo places simply because they have clothes that are just normal. Normal t shirts, normal pants and cargos (I seriously can't find cargos anywhere else these days). None of this awful shit with pants that are pre-ripped, pant legs that cause deep vein thrombosis or those gay fucking man-cleavage v necks that look like an 80's wrestler's unitard.

Seriously, I see those ball gargling fashionista dudes with Justin Bieber haircuts wearing those things and I instantly see red. Dress like a fucking man for god's sake, not like a bad cross-dressing sketch from a black-and-white era British comedy serial.

I don't really understand you guys that have said "cheap stuff doesn't fit me properly" like they deliberately design the clothes to fit the elephant man.

No, but Diesel + 7FAM + R&R + JBrand + Nudie + etc etc etc = way more choice of cuts than Levi's + Wrangler + American Eagle/Hollister/Abercrombie.

That, and the mass-produced, cheaper clothing brands are designed to fit the average person, and you're petty much fucked if you don't fall into an average body build.

Seeeriously. I basically live at Nordy Rack, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Saks Off Fifth, etc.

Have to agree with Egan on the shoes.
My experiences with 20 and sub 20 dollar shoes from discount chain department stores have not been good at all. They seem to just end up costing more in the long run because they just don't last.
I tend to wear skate shoes most of the time (I do actually currently skate, but will be quitting soon since it's too expensive to skate and do a weight training regime at the same time). There are very pricey skate shoes, well over $200, but unless you're a pro skater who earns your living off it, the $100-120 dollar shoes will be sufficient and will last a pretty long time.
As I said on the previous page, I scored 4 pairs of shoes for $200 and it would have normally set me back around $480 ($120 a pair)

Don't own this exact shoe, but the same brand nonetheless :

Don't understand how people even wear those Chuck Taylor things. Skate shoes are definitely WAY more comfortable for extended periods of walking around and being on your feet (every person I know who has gone from Chucks to skate shoes has said this and I'm not surprised, Chucks just have very bad ankle support and lack proper cushioning), and while just my opinion, but they look better too
Chucks seem useful for some weight training exercises (because they are so flat and lack cushioning), so for that reason I might get some cheap knockoffs to use for squatting and power cleans (skate shoes aren't too bad, but the cushioning throws you off balance a little bit), but otherwise I'd never use them really.

So I don't mind getting some proper brand name shoes, but I made sure I got them at a great price and wont have to get any more shoes for casual purposes for a while

Hells yeah

Most I've spent on jeans is £35, it hurt haha. Everything else like t-shirts, i don't like spending more than £5-10 each, shoes are different, i always get converse high-tops for £40 :D but jeans and shit, no more than £15-25 normally, i don't give a fucking shit if i'm not wearing designer fucking crap.

Check this shit out....

First time I went to Japan I thought I'd get into the whole spirit of the consumer fuckwit... so I bought some jeans that were like £60... Carnhartts or something....

Anyway... they're the most fucked jeans I own. My cheap shitty Primark jeans are still going strong - no holes, no tears, etc...

£60 jeans make my face go.... :Smug:

Meh I actual like and buy expensive clothes (when I actual update my wardrobe).. THe fabric feels great and it looks good. :Smug:
Like JeffTD said, you get alot more different cuts and styles then you can with cheap clothes (atleast in Denmark).

I have a few pairs of Tiger of sweden black pants (200$ each I think) and they are sooo much more comfortable then the criminal damage 20$ pants I got.

But once in a while you find great stuff that is also cheap.

All I wear is jeans and band tee's pretty much.... few jumpers here and there for when it gets chilly..
+1

I own 4 or 5 pair of black Levi's 501 jeans and fucking love them. Gotta admit that they look old faster than bluejeans, though..
I never buy the super cheap stuff but uhm 80€ for jeans, 35€ for Tees and about 60-70 for hoodies/zippers are my limit. For years I had only bandshirts but my sister forced my to buy some green/blue tees from a skater store and I really like them (reduced to 50%, hehehe)

I'll admit it, I sold out. I wore cargo shorts and metal T's all throughout high school. Half of my senior pictures were taken in camo cargo shorts, a Gojira shirt, and with my old ESP M-1.

Once I got to college and decided I wanted to get laid more often, I started dressing differently. It sort-of worked.

+1.

I tear through cheap shoes like tinfoil.

That's why I just bought these bad boys reduced from $200 to $150 (boxing day discounts my ass, 50 bucks is a haggle down, not a discount).

Chad Muska is a dick but these shoes are comfy as fuck.

The most I've paid for clothes/shoes is 45 euro for a pair of Osiris shoes and that only happens once in 2 years or so.

So am I really the only dude on a metal forum that mostly wears jeans or cargos and metal shirts? What has happened to my world?

don't worry dude, i'm with you

also, paying decent $$ for shoes, IMO, is totally different than dropping tons of coin on jeans/shirts/whatever else...wearing a shit cheap piece of denim isn't something that's going to cause you back pain or give you blisters or whatever else

It's not cool to be into metal any more bro. You have to listen to Godspeed You Black Emperor and dress like an extra from Revenge of the Nerds but be doing an arts degree or similar that marks you as being too dumb to actually be a nerd.
