I bought a new car (the "I wanna be like Gugs" thread)...

Subarus absolutely rock. I think they've made a customer out of me for life if possible. Hassle free and a very refined, quiet drive at reasonable prices. I love my Forester, which is basically an SUV/car hybrid, but here are some of their more stylish, higher end sedan/hatchback models, and they're totally worth checking out. (standard all wheel drive on all models):

Impreza:

you mean this one? :loco:

and Greg, WRX's don't start at $34K ... the Sti does, but a regular WRX does not.

I don't care for either the interior or exterior styling of the Impreza. So from my vantage point, the only reason to consider an Impreza would be for performance offered by the STI. And the styling of the STI is so over the top, I would never drive one.

If you think the new generation of STi is over the top, you should see the previous generation. Woof!

So what are these captains chairs you duders speak of?
The Outbacks seats are thin and uncomfortable on long drives. We actually thought about getting a Forester but we couldn't find any used ones and well, the Outback is a little more upscale :loco:

hahahaha
If it's not people complaining about too much noise, it's people complaining about not enough. It never ends.

so I sold the Mazda3 this morning after about a month of trying to find "the" buyer for it for the price I wanted to get.
its a great car, but the city mpg's were killing me.

something new will come in about a week :loco:

Aurel, ever bang away in your roadster? A 6'9 viking pummeling the pelvis of a Native American cherub in the passenger seat of his 08 mini is quite the vision.

Nice chonies.

Awesome. Congrats. I just caught the thread where you sold the Mazda3, and was going to post, "Bring on the Clubman". But apparently, you already have. Congrats. I know you've had a hard on for it since the stories of its arrival on U.S. shores leaked.

So... how about a mini review about your Mini? Kind of curious to hear how it differs from the Cooper.

is it just me or do you guys trade in every 6 months or so??

this thread is actually relevant to me now, i have a car for the first time EVAR...got handed down my parents' 99 toyota solara :D

now i have to figure out how to re-register it in oregon....and get an oregon DL....not looking forward to that. stupid dmv. :erk:

haha ... yeah, this was the first time ever I kept a car for only 9 months ... usually have them for at least 3-4 years.

Japanese care are not for me. The Mazda was faultless reliability wise, but the mpg's sucked and it was a bit tight for me.

Will stick with Euro or American made cars in the future. ... although the new MINI, day one, CHECK ENGINE light came on ... fucking Brits.

Zod ... this new generation MINI is a lot more civilized than the previous gen. Still got awesome handling, etc ... just a lot more forgiving on bumps and more livable for the average person (American) overall.

Only got it yesterday so will post some pics and other reflections as I drive it more.

and CONGRATS on this dude!!! ... you'll have a lot of fun with it.

Congrats on the new car, lurch! I still can't believe the mileage you were getting.
On a related note, I got 28.5 on my recent trip to and fro Florida. 1000 miles total. That would be $128 in gas. Nice.

28.5 average is not bad for highway ... what are you driving now? i never know anymore

The Outback. I took the roof bike rack off before we left and I think that helped some. 28.5 isn't bad at all for AWD at 80 mph.
