I bought a new car (the "I wanna be like Gugs" thread)...

So I ended up picking up a 1995 Infiniti G20... so far seems to be getting 25 to the gallon, maybe a bit more which is nice. Bought it off of an acquaintance whom had just put a bunch of work into it (new clutch, belts, etc.), then ended up selling it to me for 2000 after his girlfriend started bitching about him having too many cars (4  ). Handles decent enough, I suppose, and hasn't exploded into a ball of flaming fire yet, which is a good sign.

However, purchasing this + insurance has now cost me all of my savings leaving me pretty fucking poor at the moment.

Had to do it with the bus schedules being changed and routs changing etc.

Nigga stole it.

Not really... its not exactly very formidable in the uphill travel it is to my place of work, not to mention its a few more miles than I care to bike.

yey ... gas prices on Long Island, NY yesterday

LOL! What's with those wierd-ass fire extinguishers?! I've never seen such a thing.

It's going to be weird to drive when I get home. A 30-40 minute walk feels normal right now....

i hear you dude. last time i went to the 'dam and hooked up with this girl from Florida. we were going to eat dinner somewhere and she asked how long the walk was. "not very long at all".

40 minutes later she made me flag a cab.

oh, the irony of this ad, especially with today's $139 barrel of oil price.

I had to drop my car off at the shop. Third time this month I had to deal with this shit box. (This is after dropping $1,500 in maintenance 3 months ago)

First issue - Nail in brand new tire (what can ye do?)
Second issue - Transmission hose leak
Third issue - Mysterious oil leak from below

Hopefully the shop can repair the problem by tomorrow afternoon, or I'll be left with no other option than grabbing a rental car. Until that time, I'm moving through the favela of my dismay on foot.

I didn't know there was such a thing...and I know alot about cars.

It apparently is a cooling hose that keeps the oil from turning in to liquid molten lava. I sincerely hope that this issue is also a hose. I was planning to have all them replaced anyhow, so no harm will be done if that is the root of my anguish. Any other automobile ailment is going to drive me up a wall.

The tranny hose looks somewhat like this.
