In Flames New Album being released in Q2 of 2014 thread

Terrible vocals. Bizarre song structure. Decent solo and the chorus is passable. Hopefully this is one of the weaker tracks on the album, it sounds like a SOAPF song that didn't make the grade.

One listen so far and I enjoy it. I'm going to try and not listen to it anymore until the rest of the album comes out. As for it only being released right now in like 4 countries?? I know I'm probably over-simplifying this but what is the point of releasing music in some countries and not others? It's just going to be uploaded to YouTube a few hours later.

Probably because it's on Spotify, and that it's an 1week early release date. I'm pretty sure they'll upload a Youtube video June 13th.

Also I think you should listen to it a few more times. The first listen it sounds weird as fuck because it's a weird song structure but then you get a hang of it and I really like it now.

Song structure is as ordinary as it gets.

And once again Anders is doing stuff he can't possibly pull off live. Layers and layers of studio vocals.

it sounds like a SOAPF song that didn't make the grade.

+1

Ahhhhh the squeaky vocals! I'm sure it will grow on me as they all have... off to blast some Ordinary Story.

First time listen-through:
- Echoing Krofius. Song structure feels very weird. Odd silent moment to a very weird bridge at 01:39 - not a fan of that at all. It actually sounds completely out of place. I was in a state of "did I start another song?!", which can't be good... Solo effects at 03:11 just sounds like shit, luckily only for a few seconds. End of solo 03:36 is torture to my ears (lead guitar), sadly.
It sounds like someone's ripping a cat in two.
Chorus is AWESOME! Keyboards near the end of the song, also awesome. Massive creds to Örjan Örnkloo. - Lyrics: Couldn't hear some of it, but was expected. - Vocals: They are decent, bit too many layers for my taste.

10:th time listen-through:
- Song structure still feels very weird. Can't NOT hear the weirdness that is the break at 01:39 - DEFINITELY NOT a fan of that at all. It sounds completely out of place, as if changing songs. Solo effect at 03:11 still sounds like shit, but again, luckily only for a few seconds. End of solo 03:36 IS TORTURE to my ears (lead guitar), I personally just do not enjoy cat-slaying (apparently). Chorus is really really great! Keyboards are definitely very well done! - Lyrics: Still couldn't manage to hear all of the lyrics. What I hear is good however. - Vocals: Yeah, same as first impression.

So far I can only say 1 thing. How the fuck did they let that break part at 01:39 slide? - Overall, after 11 listen-throughs, I do start to dig it. The chorus is excellent, but there are personal issues (which everyone has) with the song that makes me to not love it. And also, again, highlighting the very weird break part at 01:39 which simply should not be there.

I know it's on Spotify and that it was released early, but this day and age, if you release it in one place, just release it everywhere. Maybe it's all tied up in different labels for different countries? Oh well.

I'm really going to try and not listen to it until more songs come out. I hate when I listen to a song too many times before the album, and then the album comes out and I always just skip over the single because it's played out.

Yeah it surely has to do with label stuff and regulations/restrictions.

And I agree about the overplaying part, I've suffered that problem a lot myself, like with Deliver Us. But then when the album is out and you skip that song for a while then it usually comes back and it's equally not played out with the other songs again :p

First "review" of the Siren Charms album seems... not so good (depending on taste)? - Compares Siren Charms to A Sense Of Purpose and Sounds Of A Playground Fading.

- From MetalSucks

We’ve heard Siren Charms, and it’s every bit as uninspired and bland as Sounds of a Playground Fading and that one with the monster vagina on the cover. There are a couple of okay songs. The only reason I even made it through the entire thing was out of respect to all that the group has done in the past. It’s about as energetic and refreshing as a shot of Rohypnol.
You won’t get to try and stay awake through this lifeless album ’til it’s released on September 9, but you can try and stay awake through the first single, “Rusted Nail,” right now. Or you can just skip it. You’ll remember just as many details of the song whether you listen to it or not.

Seems like a fairly subjective review, lol. If it's similarly good as SOAPF I'm all good. And I suppose he's referring to the Come Clarity artwork being a monster vagina?

The monster vagina is obviously the ASOP cover, with this hole in the ground surrounded by tentacles.

I personally enjoyed both A Sense Of Purpose and Sounds Of A Playground Fading. - There are a few really really strong songs on ASOP such as The Chosen Pessimist, Alias, and I'm The Highway - whereas I personally have not found any really strong songs from SOAPF not counting A New Dawn, which is the only song I really really liked from the entire CD. That doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy the album. - I hope I will like the album, of course, and from what the MetalSucks guy says about it, it is likely that I will. I do definitely NOT want another Rusted Nail song though. It is outright badly produced. It sounds like 4 songs in 1. A cut and paste of mediocrity.

No, this one:

I think they mean the giant vagina with teeth on the back wall. Also, March to the Shore is a really good song. If it's like SOAPF I will really like it. As for Rusted Nail, I'm only hearing one song. I don't know where the mash up stuff is coming from.

A new song premiered today, did not expect another song for a couple of weeks!

Going to listen to it now.

EDIT: FML, can't listen to it from my country (Sweden), trying to find a proxy but to no avail thus far.

EDIT2: Found a link to listen to it: http://myfreemp3.cc/music/in+flames+through+oblivion

I actually like it after the first listen. It's a weird balladish song, but damn there's an improvement in Anders clean vocals, at least in this song, there's not many nasal/whiny tones. I like that there's a big punch in the drums also.
The only balladish song I can't fucking stand is Liberation, live it was okay though. By the way, the samples in the chorus, I feel like I recognize it from somewhere, anyone knows?

Two atypical singles released thus far, but I saw in a recent interview with Anders he said this time the band didn't choose the songs, they told the record label to choose whatever they wanted because they were happy with all songs and didn't really care.

Last EDIT: Damn I'm really digging this song after 4 listens. I like it way more than Rusted Nail. I bet this song is going to be even more hated because it's not a fast and heavy song but I know there'll be some of those on the album so I'm not worried.

No way around it, I think it sounds good too. If I pretend I'm not listening to IF it's very enjoyable.

Edit: thanks krofius as always for the link.

Krofius, I'm pretty sure you said you liked Liberation when the album came out. ? Anyway, I like this song. Very different, but then again so were Dawn of a New Day and Metaphor.
