Metal versus Hip Hop

Those looking for intelligent hiphop with a darker sound should look into Dälek. They toured with Isis at some point.

Also let's not make stupid generalizations here. If you don't know a damn thing about hiphop other than what you've been annoyed by on TV or the radio then fine, but then don't speak under the presumption that your opinion about the genre as a whole carries any weight whatsoever. Like someone already said, people could easily make the same sweeping generalizations about metal from watching Korn and Slipknot videos (and plenty have) and they would be equally nonsensical and wrong as I'm sure most people here would agree.

And let's not pretend that women are treated with heaps of respect in black or death metal either. Besides, women belong in the kitchen anyway so who cares?

Oh yeah and I guess I should answer the actual topic, though it seems like kind of a pointless subject to write an article on to me. But whatever floats your boat.

What is your stance on hip-hop and rap?

Used to be into it quite a bit (before I even listened to metal). Nowadays it's not a genre I very actively pursue anymore but I still like a selection of underground and older stuff. Modern mainstream hiphop can fuckoff and die.

What do you think of the subculture that accompanies it?

Not even on my radar. Couldn't care less one way or the other. I'm sure I hate most of the people who participate in the mainstream hiphop culture just as much as any other mainstream youth oriented subculture.

How do you think women are treated in the hip-hop/rap scene?

I don't know if you can really speak of there being one scene (I'd argue that you can't) but it varies. Obviously women are objectified in a good portion of mainstream hiphop nowadays, and to some extent have always been. But then the same could be said for plenty of other mainstream genres. You can't watch a mainstream pop or R&B video either without gratuitous T&A all over the place. I think the main difference between new hiphop and old hiphop is that back in the 80's and early 90's a lot of it was quite tongue in cheek (like say N.W.A.) whereas nowadays it seems rappers take themselves incredibly seriously which makes it more annoying I guess.

why the fuck not?

hip hop sucks.
same beat through out the entire song. alot of the shit lyrically makes 0 sense.
The people listening to it are dipshits. (sure theres SOME normal people, but very little)
Hiphop has also taken over on commercials and other shit like that. Its annoying as fuck

Because we already know your moronic opinion on hip-hop you hick, Jesus fucking Christ, please use some kind of self-control.

Yeah, thats the mainstream crap. It gets a little more interesting the deeper you delve.

Bit like metal, really.

You're an idiot who knows nothing about real rap.
