New anathema album, first impressions

its kinda weird, this cd.

are you there isnt really my fave song. its like someone said before, its a nice song and that but it misses a finale. like more songs on the cd. thats probably cause they arent really 'songs'. no chorus-refrain-ch-ref-bridge-ref things. not that i bother but there are only one or few MAIN parts in general. and most songs are more like this.

on the other hand. im quite sceptic because its a band i know very well. and i really like the stuff.

been listening to the new one for like 3 days... it has yet to give me a lasting impression, as of this moment, it sounds pretty weak to me, but it may change in the next few weeks. However, 'Are you there' and the last instrumental, 'Violence' are masterpieces. Perhaps the best song on the album is 'Violence', it has so much energy and emotion in it.

to be honest i think the album could have been different and maybe better but its done now and i would like to move on to another cd. its got its moments though. every song has its place i guess.

are you all journalists? how did you all get to listen to the album you bunch of little e-thieving cunts?

I downloaded the album and I know that saying I'll buy it later actually became a kinda gay thing to say so what if I tell you I already pre-ordered it and payed for it? Hmm...forget it...I did though...

but now were e-cool cause we listened to the album already.

Well Danny, I don´t know any band that described the abyss better and in a more adequate way... That´s my opinion. I think "A Natural Disaster" is focused to the thing(s) that are really important. Add a little more "Shroud Of Frost..." the next time and everything will be nearly complete... :)

yeah. next time you wonder why anathema are poor and cannot sustain themsleves financially, look at your download files and then buy youselves a nice bar of chocolate.

ah. im afraid that there is not much about to do about downloading... i know its sad.....

But you can count on me that Ill get the album at day 1

the lads on the forum are not the problem danny. we'll all buy the album. it's those who don't care about the band. the effort and all. :erk:

It doesn't take much energy to do so, to be honest.

But in all seriousness, I usually do that with albums that are 'let downs', in my point of view.
"Saviour" was one of the best releases of the last half-decade. I find "LO" to be simply 'lacking'. Simple as that.

But, heck, if you dislike honesty, I can tell you what you want to hear?!

ps....the Ad Hom attacks are silly, to be sure. Verbal jabs directed towards someone who expresses an opinion contrary to yours is juvenile. And, out of respect, I disn't go into the Antimatter forum and post this comment.
So much for integrity & honesty around here, huh?!!
Why do you even care what one fan says about the record, anyway?
There are plenty of others here who praise it...

whats an Ad Hom attack ? :erk:

you should see my cd collection. no single copy, no mp3 cds (except songs i ripped from me own cds) nothing. oh yeah just bootlegs. but thats fair cause it doesnt hurt sales.

ive mp3s on me pc tho, but theyre from artists i would never buy a cd from (like 1 or 2 songs i like that theyve made, no full cds)

and im proud i can say im honest. i think no one among you can say the same. is it?
