Not-so-good-and-old "How do you feel" thread

@rahvin: well, i understand your amusement and the fact that it stems from your limited knowledge on greek reality.
yet this implies that greek students, unlike their european fellows, don't go out on saturday nights during exam time. while this is indeed possible, i find it amusing at best, and not really a reason for grievance. promoters probably assume such strong dedication will meet an unexplainable downfall at the mere mention of dark tranquillity, or maybe the much more rebellious and parents-unfriendly judas priest, thus driving scores of greek young ones on the road to perdition. not to mention other destinations. :)

edit: it also seems that the percentage of greek students attending university suddenly skyrocketed above the european average, to assume that out of your normal crowd, more than one out of three is a uni student anyway.

@rahvin: well, it's a 5-day festival, so it's not just a matter of going out on a saturday night. moreover, not everybody lives/studies in athens, and since this is probably the biggest event of this kind in greece, a lot of people are expected to travel to athens from every city for it (as more or less happens with any other show). and we all know that travelling takes more than one afternoon, which gets kind of inconvenient during exams.
apart from that, i don't know figures, but there's an awfully high percentage of greek youngs attending uni or other schools, which has gotten actually problematic. of course that doesn't mean all of those are dedicated to their studies, actually i'd say very few are, so they're indeed expected to go. heck, even i'll do my best to go, but only because it's dt playing, i wouldn't do it for any other band at this point. yet, if it wasn't on an exams period more people would be inclined to go.

still, you're missing the whole point. this is the feelings thread, i didn't mean to analyze this whole thing rationally to the very bottom of it, or argue that things should be done the way that'd be more comfortable for me; i just felt like ranting about something that annoys me a bit.

you're probably quite right there, and - upon second thought - i'm certainly better of passing the info about the promoters' alleged unreliability to the band.
still, festivals take place in june in every bloody country i know of, so i must assume from my privileged podium of ignorance that it's in fact not such a big deal.

yes. and i felt like being amused by the whole idea. :) admittedly, this was probably because last night i was in a mood which was kinda easy to amuse, but now i can't possibly admit i was being bitchy, can i?

Well, they're not completely unreliable, for example from what i heard, the bands that were going to play in the cancelled festival in '02 got their money, and i know that lots of those bands got to get in greece for a gig at a later date. Also the "venue" problem seems to be solved so i doubt it could get cancelled this time.
Still, some of their mistakes were completely stupid, and i also don't like the fact that they got to announce dates for rockwave '04 shortly after the cancellation of the '02 thing (it was supposed to be around 5 august), and then half a year before the event find out the dates are changed for june.
And as a side note, i haven't heard anything about problems with separate gigs, all the unreliability thing has to do with rockwave fest.

NF: Annoyed at the inconsideration of some, and moved by the compassion of others. So some people are good and some people aren't. Gods, I'm clever.
